Deposits of minerals vital to modern civilization, including what is likely the world's largest lithium deposit, have been confirmed by military geologists sent by the Pentagon. Discovered by the Soviets but never developed due to the Soviet defeat and subsequent civil war and Taliban regime, the deposits are currently valued at $1 trillion. As more surveys are done and mining begins, the value of the deposits my go up even higher.

Afghanistan, welcome to the 'Industrialized Nations' club. Your membership will likely be pending for many years as you learn the ropes but I trust that you'll enjoy the benefits of full membership in 20 or so years... Just don't screw up and blow the money on your drug addiction.

That would be amazing for them to industrialize. I'd love to have a pomegranate from there, but cultivation really slowed when the Russians went in.

Be interesting to see if we try and take any of that for ourselves.

Loved the last comment in your post, lol'd hard.

It will be interesting to see who takes control over those deposits and what role the US will play in being a recipient of it.

Good, perhaps this means they can pay back the USA and other allies who liberated this country. But something tells me that there is a fat chance of this happening, right? Or maybe I am being too cynical.

China will buy out the country like Al Quida did. Then they'll boot the West out like Al Quida then. Then they'll rape the country for all they can like al Quida did. Then they'll walk away rich and vary much alive like they always do. :p

And the innocent ole Americans would never be in a race with any other nation over this..... Yes they just stumbled upon the fact.

Stuck for a decade plus in a intractable and silly situation. The Military leadership is rife with Vietnam veterans. The POW/MIA flag should remove the "You are not forgotten" Cleary they are. The recent issues with the British and BP should exemplify clearly how recourses and thus money are the motivating fact.
