Hey way over here in Vancouver Canada!

Hey everyone, I am seeking refuge here after my regular forum has finally died :(

I had over 15,000 posts and 5 years sunk into www.frostcloud.com when it suddenly disappeared.

So I am looking around, getting a sense of the different communities out there, seeing which crowd I like and who will have me.

I am an opinionated young guy who despises conservatives as a rule.

I honestly don't think highly of u.s. politics and I like to shine light on ignorance wherever I find it.

I like a good argument and I hope I am honest enough with myself to admit when I am wrong.

I look forward to having everyone here make my arguments and viewpoint of life and the world better.

I am an open book so feel free to ask me anything ...

I don't usually start sentences with "I", despite this post *L* :)

Welcome to the forums, ArghMonkey- it is great to have you! I am myp, one of the admins here and I look forward to seeing you around- let me know if you need anything.

As for the conservative-bashing, you will find quite a few of our top members in the same group as you. Personally, I am paleoconservative (more libertarian leaning, anti-war,) so me and you may not always agree, but we like to welcome people of all ideologies here so I really hope you stick around :)

Its funny, I dont know if your familiar with Pen and Teller but they are very active libertarians, Penns saying is "We need to convince the weed people that the guns are ok and the gun people that weed is ok".

50% of libertarian ideas I seem to hold myself, the other half are too conservative for me but I generally like half of what libertarians stand for.

Btw, thanks for the nice welcome, I look forward to conversing with everyone here.

Yes, I am familiar with Penn and Teller- mostly through their show Bullshit! (that's the title in case someone hasn't heard of it :p .)

It is good to know you have some libertarian in you and I look forward to seeing where you stand on particular issues as you post on the forum.

As for the community, I think you'll find that most of us are easily approachable and nice. We like to stick to intelligent discussion instead of flaming and attacking one another (both which are against the rules.) Just makes the forum more fun and productive.

He's not kidding. I'm a libertarian socialist. The problem is, nobody on the forum really understands what I mean, except me. Even when i explain it as "anti-state socialism".

I'm a minarchist/anarchist type and a massive lefty. I'm also a secular atheist.

I try to understand my friend. Just remember my roots are almost 60 years of living deep. So it is difficult for me to branch out very far.:p

I think I know (and understand) where you stand by now. At first I was confused as to whether you were for statist socialism or not, but now I think I have it down :p (you're not- more of a left libertarian)

I dont see warhawks saying they are pro-war, what do u mean by this exactly?

Pro-gun? I can only assume you mean your anti-regulation on guns?

Almost everybody is pro-gun.

Some people are pro-gun for the People, some are pro-gun for the Government.

Some are pro-gun for both Government and People.

Now for the last lot - they're supposedly anti-gun for both, but of course this is entirely unrealistic. So it ends up that only the Government has guns.

When I say pro-gun, I mean NRA pro-gun.

Wow! This discussion is getting a bit deep for the welcome section don't ya think?
We are a forum for intelligent discussion after all, aren't we? :p And it's not really off-topic since David was just clearing up his stance to ArghMonkey and Dirk.

The quicker things get cleared up the better in my opinion. Once they go on for a few days they can get tiresome.:D
