A comparison of the Bible and Quran is invalid. The Bible was compiled over centuries, was edited extensively and was designed as a spiritual guide book and pro-Roman propaganda. The Quran was complied by Muhammad himself and his contemporaries and while spiritual in nature, it was a chronicle of Muhammad's rise to power and reign. Compare the Quranic passages to the corresponding history and you find that peaceful and violent passages match up with peace- and wartime, turn the other cheek doesn't work when someone is trying to kill you.

But aren't we turning the other cheek?

Maybe we need to get specific here. Forget war just for a minute. Besides being supremacist (and therefore unconstitutional), the Koran is chock full of horrendous stuff, all ILLEGAL under US law:

1. Sura 4:34 - wife-beating

2. Sura 2:223, 4:24 - Rape

3. Sura 65:4 - Pedophilia (the age of consent in Saudi Arabia is birth)

4. Sura 33:50 - Slavery

5. Sura 2:125, 22:27-28 - Animal Cruelty (millions of innocent animals are killed once every year on Eid al Adha).

6. Sura 4:11, 2:282 - Sex Discrimination (women cannot drive cars in Saudi Arabia)

And that's just a brief sample. A comparison of the New Testament and the Koran is perfectly valid. The NT doesn't endorse all this awful stuff as the Koran does (if not command it).

Speaking from UK, I believe there has been too much 'falling over backwards' to pacify these people and to satisfy their demands. Its changed my country.
I'm all for everyone believing what they want to BUT when it affects me or my country then thats plain wrong.

No but the Torah/OT makes the Quran look like a hippy wrote it. And don't pull that 'the OT doesn't matter anymore' BS. Aside from the fact that it's 1/2 the Bible, it's used to justify all those nasty things Christians like to do (slavery, keeping gays down, etc.)

The Old Testament is the Jewish bible. The New Testament is the Christian bible. I say again the Christian bible does NOT advocate the immoral and ILLEGAL things that the Koran does (and I've heard this Old Testament line a thousand times). Know why they are called by 2 different names ? Because they're different. Anyone can say anything to justify anything. Doesn't change the New Testament into being an equivalent of the Koran.

Attempting to equate Christianity with Islam is about the most ludicrous argument that could ever exist.

A good way to see the difference between Christianity and Islam is to compare the words of Jesus Christ with the words of Mo the Pedophile.

Here's a few samples of that :

1. Jesus Christ - "Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you, and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely, on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven."

Mohammad - "And slay them wherever you find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution is worse than slaughter".

2. Jesus Christ - "..if anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also..."

Mohammad - "Will ye not fight a folkwho broke their solemn pledges, and purposed to drive out the messenger and did attack you first ?"

3. Jesus Christ - "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."

Mohammed - "Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of Allah and your enemies, and others besides whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know."

Again, the Bible is inspirational, pro-Roman propaganda while the Quran is a spiritual chronicle of a warrior king. You can't compare them any more then you can compare a Tom Clancy novel to a history book.

Both books can be interpreted as the evil rants of lunatics...and both books can be seen as inspired beauty. Both are mythical fables used to kill, and both are chronicles of wonderful spiritual teachings.

I have read both...and dismissed them as impossible.

I know the original poster was banned, but I'm going to respond to the general message anyway.

I really hate when people go off on rants like this. "Keep Christ in Christmas!" pleas just tend to annoy me. If you want to say Christmas, go for it. If you don't want to, don't. If you celebrate for religious reasons, go ahead. If you're an atheist who celebrates for family and wants to say "Happy holidays" go ahead....or if you want to say Christmas, I don't care! If you're Jewish and don't celebrate at all....that's up to you!

When it comes down to it, I really don't care how you celebrate or don't, or why you want to either way. Do as you please and I'll do the same. There's no reason to get hostile about it and there's no reason to start ranting or lecturing to other people either. Do want you want and let them do the same.

I totally agree with this statement! I don't see why people care so much about what other people celebrate. It falls under religious freedom, people, a vital part of our country! If you want everyone to believe the same as you, you should be in some other country.

Anything in life can be compared.
