Because we didn't lose. You could argue that it was a geo-political lose because NV regrouped after the war and conquered the South but Vietnam is an ally so we didn't lose even with that argument.
Just because they attacked the embassy doesn't change the fact that we didn't fight the 2nd war or that they had surrendered after the failed Tet Offensive during the 1st war.
You were beaten totally, and deserved to be. What is the point of denying the obvious?
We crushed the Vietcong, routed the NVA and signed a peace treaty after North Vietnam sued for peace. How is that beaten?
Seriously, where did you learn about the War? You're not really trying to say the North Vietnamese won the Tet Offensive are you?
I remember rejoicing at the Tet Offensive. No, they didn't win immediately, but they served notice that your colonialism was finished unless you wanted a world war.

We were on the wrong side in Vietnam but the North came over to us almost the moment they united the country so it worked out.

I don't understand that, but I don't want to continue this forever, so I suggest you have the last word and we stop.
They overthrew the Communists in Cambodia and fought (and won) a war with China when they tried to invade. As soon as they finished beating back the Chinese they told the Soviets what to do with themselves and have been US allies ever sense (and in fact they had originally asked us to help them overthrow the French at the start of the war).
Although that's a very inflammatory (though childishly amusing) way to put it.
