News Corp. to split

News Corp is expected to announce its intent to split into 2 companies on Thursday (it is going to be a big news day with the ACA verdict too). News Corp was founded by Rupert Murdoch and includes companies like Fox, the WSJ, and a lot of newspapers and other media companies. The split would probably not happen until a year after as they are still discussing how it would be done.

Is the split just an example of reorganization or is part of News Corp. being sold off?

It is a planned spin-off I believe. It isn't a sale, but the stock of both companies will be separate. Murdoch will probably want to keep voting powers in both, but this still matters, especially in the long run.
