If apartment complexes were smart, they would ban dogs and smoking. Maybe there could be some complexes that allow these and others that don't, but to have all complexes allowing these, is a lot less than ideal.

Any apartment complex that would take the gun out of my pocket, would merely be taking my money out of THEIR pocket. They wouldn't get a dime of it.

In an apartment if you pay your rent the dwelling is yours. This tells me never rent an apartment in Colorado because technically it isn't your homestead. In my state no lord of land our sky can interfere with your rights. The land Lord has no right to restrict rights of those that he sublets to

But living in an apt. building or complex is a privilege, not a right. The word "right" is thrown around way to often when it simply does not apply.

Our "rights" are few & basic. :smug:

And are fewer and more basic every day.

Was not cell phone; was one-way, emergency use only landline.

Became a cell phone under Bush the Lesser as land lines started to fall out of usage. It's all the same program, just updated and expanded over the years. So to recap, Reagan's's idea and expanded and updated by 2 Bushes and a Clinton before Obama came into the picture. So reganphone. ;)

I agree living there is a privilege, I never said it wasn't. But as long as you are living there the dwelling is your home. You have the right to defend your home.

No...unless you own it, it is called your apartment/condo/campsite.

The actual owner makes the rules....and thus gets to decide on the contract you must sign.

Well the dwelling is owned by the person paying rent. What do you think you pay rent for. It really depends on the state in my state no apartment complex can forbid you from owning a gun and keeping it in your apartment.

You are terribly incorrect, regardless of individual state decisions.

Unless you pay the property taxes on a building.....you do not own it.
You pay rent to a person referred to as a "Landlord"...who is the "lord" of this "Land".

You do pay property taxes on it, it's normally included in the rent.

Well you can't just march onto someone's home if they keep up with their rent. We have arrested people for that more than once. You don't hold a deed but you hold a lease agreement.

It really does depend on the state. In some states as long as you pay the rent that apartment is yours. I do this kind of thing all the time. You have to serve eviction notice, if the land lord had absolute power there would be no eviction they would just barge in and through you out..

There are a lot of laws on this and they absolutely do differ from state to state.
