While I understand the use of media for Political Advancement, accept it as a part of our system...there are times when I am taken aback.

This is one of those times, but I would like to gain perspective from all of you....so please, comment:

Sounds about right to me.

This President supported the up rising in Egypt, Libya, and Syria. You know those popular revolts that stated with assault weapons. But, here in America, the President is afraid of the people and would like to see them dis-armed.

Senator Feinstein carries for her protection but would deny those of us in fly-over country the same right.

Mayor Blomberg said he was not responsible as a 19 year old, or even knew of any 19 years olds in college that were responsible to have a gun. I guess this fool has never heard of the Army or the Marine Corps.

As I am want to say: If it were not for the double standard, Liberal/Democrats would have no standards at all.

Do you think civilians should have access to grenades and rocket launchers too? Because military personnel including those 19 year olds often do. I don't buy the logic of your argument. I'm not for a complete ban, but I'm just saying I don't follow that logic.

Also, the trained, [relatively] mentally stable 19 year old is not exactly analogous to the random, possible mentally unstable, hormonal 19 year old civilian. Although even the one that is trained might suffer later in life with PTSD- if I had it my way, we'd limit the wars too.

I wonder firstly if political hack ads from the Left side of the aisle leave you equally "taken aback."

Secondly, this is hack job politics, just more of it that we saw during the campaign, it's a form of negative advertising. Both political parties and special interest groups use it to the extreme and that's because it works. The Partys may decry negative ads when asked or confronted....but they all run them consistently. Full well knowing the adoring public is for a great part shallow, kneejerk, and predicatable.

It's typical NRA trash, I don't see why you're getting all upset. In fact, how do I submit to you, Tecoyah, that I actually and very much doubt you were taken aback by this at all. I can't see anyone that paid attention to the last election ad season even taking note of this.....same shat different day.

That school, the one the First Daughters go to, had armed guards well before those two showed up.

No, but obviously the President thinks so. Just not in this country where he might be in danger.

You say no, but then condemn the President for also saying no (in this country)? I think you agree with the President there :p

No way!

It is the President that is a hypocrite on the gun issues.

p.s., I did not know that "access to grenades and rocket launchers" was part of the current debate.

It's not. I'm just saying that your logic about the military thing did not make sense since you said the 19 y.o. who has a gun in the army is okay so you felt because of that it should be okay for him to have it domestically as a civilian. But one can apply that to grenades too.

And you said you don't want grenades/rocket launchers to be legal for civilians, right? The President clearly believes that too, so you do agree. How do you not?

Putting aside your confusion over the term "Taken Aback" as well as the strange ability you seem to possess to peer into the minds of those you encounter over the internet...I will explain my reason for surprise the Ad created in my mind.

1) Obama has not stated he is against armed guards in schools.
2) The secret service requires the presidential family be protected.
3) Historically, the Presidential children were off limits in political ads.
4) Part of Obama's plan funds schools who wish to add armed guards.
5) Claiming a hypocritical stance from an organization well known for the same is a bit disingenuous.

On another note...it seems you feel my stance is liberal, or leftist leaning. This is a very common reaction to a moderate, or independent leaning political position by those on the extreme right.

Your slip is showing.

The President is not, repeat, not agaisnt civilians of other countries having access to grenades/rocket launchers along with so called assult weapons, just not our citizens. Why?

I would think it may have something to do with his oath of office, and the job of protecting the citizens of the United States.

He was not hired to protect everyone else...or Anyone else.

Because it is a different situation and also because he does not have jurisdiction there. It is hardly the same thing.

You agree with the President on domestic policy towards rocket launchers. It isn't a bad thing. Even if you don't support the guy, you can still agree with him on some things. I am sure you both love this country too and think it is exceptional. Another agreement.

OK, he says he wants to crack down on illegal sells of assault weapons to criminals. Does that meant he is going to arrest Eric Holder? That would be an action I could support.

See that is unfair. Because whether or not someone loves their country is THEIR opinion. And he by everything he has said has suggested he does love the country. Unless you have proof of a conspiracy, you have to give him the benefit of the doubt or at least not say the exact opposite of what he says just because you think so. After all, his opinion is his and not yours, right? It is intellectually unfair to say things like "liberals hate america" or "conservatives hate america" because it just isn't true. If you want to have a shouting match, go for it, but it doesn't mean anything- it is like two toddlers fighting over a toy and I have no interest in discussing important matters with people who are only interested in this us vs. them narrative.

Unfair? Bull do-do!

What is unfair is this Administration listing me as a potential domestic terrorist because I am a retired Marine, gun owner, and a consecrative.

I am not saying all Liberals are un-American, just this President.

Okay. I hope you realize that when you say the President does not love this country you are doing literally the same thing that whoever calls you a potential domestic terrorist is doing. Two wrongs don't make a right.

(also I highly doubt you have proof of the administration labeling you a potential domestic terrorist, if you do have it, mind sharing?)

No, it take three wrongs.

You just might want to look up what Homeland Security is putting out to the public as to who they, DHS, think are potential domestic terrorists.

I'm not doing your work for you.

I need 10 ...

That reads to me like "I have a terrible bias against my President and I think he is out to get me but I don't have any proof". Well good luck with that.
