I have not seen anymore about him. Wonder if he got a "stimules check" and is just enjoying his visit?:D
Well we know for sure he is getting regular meals and free accommodation, thanks to the US taxpayers. Probably won't get a tour however ... :D

Pirates? arrrg? Easiest way to handle pirates is to have 3-4 people on the deck trained in medium to heavy arms and hand to hand combat. Supply them with 50 cal machine guns. If someone comes near your ship, kindly get on the loud speaker, warn them to back off or else, when they get within 100 yards turn their dingy into driftwood.

The best way to deal with pirates is to address the causes. The Somali pirates exist because their waters were unsustainably fished. If that had been prevented (however you want to achieve that), then they wouldn't exist.

Make the price of piracy more than they can pay. Never pay them anything and destroy anything they care about. They will get the picture.

It's funny that, actually. That's exactly what got them into piracy in the first place.

Maybe this will explain some of my thinking about things. I truly believe people can do just about anything they want to do. But they need to know there is a price for doing it. I would like to go to town and take every dollar out of every bank. But I know I am not willing to pay the price it would cost me to do so. Therefore I will not be robbing any banks.:p

I believe in karma in a very watered down secular sense.

AT LAST .... took me a while, your Avatar was niggling in my brain cells, I was sure I had seen that guy before! Dawkins!!!! Arghhhh ...... I preferred your previous Avatar ....much better.

I actually like pirates. At least they are not sitting at home waiting and hoping for life to come up with their breaks. They decided to make their own breaks. Good for them!

I like Bakunin. He's something of a hero to me (as is Dawkins). I decided to switch to Dawkins because he's not quite as extreme.

Hmm, yes, at the expense of others. But you can understand why they did it.

Dawkins is a very nice person, also a good author, he writes well. I just don't agree with all his views however. I also did not like his participation (as indirect as it has been) with the Bus Campaign. I must say I have not really admired anyone that much lately, enough to want to have their photo in my Avatar. Dawkins is not that bad, but I find your views much more original than his are.

I'd hate to bump into a Somali pirate, however from a very safe distance, probably have to admire them for their cheekiness.

Well, Dawkins is very secular. He doesn't like organised religions, but neither did Bakunin and neither do I. My point is, you and i have differing views, and yet you have no complaint that I have an earlier picture of myself as a profile picture.

:p

And thank you, but I don't have many of my own ideas. I do with some - i suppose you're thinking of my LHS? I'm more criticising things than suggesting proper alternatives.

Right, now what was it again ...... ;)

OK .... it was about the pirates. I was thinking yesterday when there was this news about Greenpeace ramming a Japanese whaling trawler, that possibly they could recruit some Somalian pirates to sort out whaling trawlers much more effectively than Greenpeace can?

Well, it would give them a job. And whaling is horrible. Two birds with one stone, methinks?

Right, it certainly would spice things up nicely in the Pacific Ocean, while they are ducking nuclear missile tests from North Korea when they are misfired into the Pacific

If they're paid enough, they can get seaworthy enough vessels to combat the Japanese "scientific" whalers.

Right! There are a number of assignments that they can help with, and they probably will be pretty darn good at it too. They seem to be very resourceful fellas. :D
