There is an interesting situation in Switzerland right now, as the country gets set for a vote that would compel all cantons within the country to hire lawyers. The government is trying to get voters to vote no on the situation, claiming that the money could be better used elsewhere in the fight against animal cruelty. Personally, I am with the government of Switzerland on this one.

Why would they need lawyers?
People love their animals. Animals, depending where they are, could earn fortunes. There are quite a number of wealthy people who revere their animals and are either prepared to leave a huge portion of their estate for the management of their animals, or contribute huge portions of money to Animal Protection organizations.

In the example of the article, Goetschel lucked out. He probably loves animals, and then unexpectedly hit a bonanza when he started to work on animal cases and became famous as the only official animal lawyer in Switzerland.

I was referring to this:
I believe the reference was not just any lawyer but animal lawyers. I was trying to say that because of a very great focus recently by people who are quite wealthy in taking a stronger position with regard to abuse of animals, Switzerland has been spending more money in persuing animal cases. One lawyer does not seem enough. So now they are employing one for each canton.
