For this thread, i'd like to invite members here to do likewise, then we can discuss nuances later.

I've read it. It's a load of crap but then I don't support liberal democracy.

an elitist generally does not like a democracy.

he feels that his fellow man is not his peer but rather his inferior and therefore incapable of ruling himself and consequently requires a dictator or state to make his decisions for him.

Republics have never lasted more than 300 years (with the 1 exception being Rome) and their fall is rarely bloodless. Democracies have an even worse record.

A constitutional elective monarchy is the most stable form of government (assuming the constitution is well thought out). The stability of a monarch, none of the tyranny that comes from a dictator and little risk of someone unworthy coming to power as it'd not be based on birth.

Democracies and republics, while a fine idea philosophically, fail due to their mechanics. They work when they're new and everyone is filled with revolutionary and idealistic zeal but after 1-2 generations is turns into a popularity contest. The damage can be limited in a republic by restricting how much the popular will can change civil protocal but it's only a stopgap as those rules can slowly but steadily be amended or repealed. Once the damage has sufficiently advanced, the whole system falls apart under it's own weight.

A person is smart, people are idiots.
