WASHINGTON—Secretary of State Hillary Clinton offered an unwavering defense Wednesday of the Obama administration's response to the 2012 assaults on U.S. government posts in Benghazi, Libya.

"Unwavering defense, in other words, didn't take responsibility.

Mrs. Clinton again took responsibility for any security lapses in Benghazi but praised the response from her department and other government agencies.
She said the attacks "are part of a broader strategic challenge to the United States and our partners in North Africa" because of the emergence of violent extremism there.

Exactly what I mean here.....taking responsibility doesn't include praising the response from her department who was clearly negligent at best. And what does she mean "emergence of violent extremism" in North Africa.....you mean after Obama helped upset the balance in Egypt and Libya? The Obama Administration is responsible here and if there was this 'emerging violence' why in God's name are our people unprotected. This woman simply has no shame, she's should be fired for utter failure.

As she began her testimony, Mrs. Clinton became visibly emotional as she recalled meeting relatives of U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans who were killed in the Sept. 11 assault.

Oh, I bet that is how she started her testimony, I personally think she's a fraud and trying to save her own skin. I believe Lance Armstrong before I believe this political hack.

I stood next to President Obama as the Marines carried those flag-draped caskets off the plane at Andrews [Air Force Base]," she told senators, choking back tears. "I put my arms around the mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, sons and daughters."

You SHOULD stand there. You SHOULD put your arms around those whose family members you and the President are indirectly responsible for. For Christ's sake, we have a joke for a Secretary of State.

The grueling day of testimony comes as Mrs. Clinton recovers from a month of health problems that began with a stomach virus and ended with her hospitalization for a blood clot near her brain.

"Grueling day?"

Please. She was asked to tell the truth....under oath always grueling for those who struggle with the truth

Not to mention they went around for 3 weeks telling everyone this attack was a spontaneous response to some third rate movie concerning Islam.
Now all of the sudden she's telling us these attacks are "part of a broader strategic challenge to the United States and our partners in North Africa because of the emergence of violent extremism there."

From two bit movie to broader challenge of violent extremism...in such a short amount of time, Hillary?

We have a State Department in utter chaos.

Here we go again....armchair quarterbacks drooling at the chance to pretend they know more than the Secretary of State, placing blame on those that were unable to prevent something terrible rather than on those who caused it, and repeating the talking points generated by others rather than forming thought for themselves.

I watched the testimony and have a somewhat less simplified opinion of the exchanges.

A second investigation, by the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, formed the first bipartisan congressional report on the Obama administration's response to the Benghazi attacks.

Did you see any Senate or House findings....let's look to the Senate as the House is Republican, a chamber you seem to distrust.

The committee's report, issued Dec. 31, found that the State Department and Pentagon had no viable way to rescue Americans in Benghazi and the State Department had repeatedly failed to learn from past security breaches at embassies. The report spread the blame beyond State to include the Pentagon and the Obama administration.

This report spread blame. A report from tecoyah and Stonewall's represenatatives in Congress who concluded that lives couldn't have been saved, but there was valid blame to lay at the feet of the State Department and Obama Administration. So much for monday morning QBing
