Santorum's performance during the GOP primaries was pretty impressive but Rubio may be a good choice because he is a Cuban American from Florida and he can woo Latino voters in his home state. The general election is expected to be very close and Florida could determine the outcome of the race and recent three polls showed that Obama and Romney are tied at 46%.

I agree ThirdTerm, but Santorum's impressive performance during the GOP primaries probably won't mean much in the general election where he will likely do poorly with Democrats and Independents. Rubio is the much more intriguing choice.

I do not like either choice. Santorum would hurt more than help. And Rubio might help with Florida, but all Latino voters do not have the same concerns and opinions. They do not all agree anymore than all white people do.

There's also the fact that young Cubans tend to be more Democratic and pro-Cuba then the older generation that once dominated the exile bloc. Rubio might appeal to the Cubans who remember the revolution but not so much the 20-something Cubans wearing Che t-shirts.
