That's good news. I really hope that it will become successful so that they can absorb excess CO2 and CO in the atmosphere and can be used to make other kinds of energy.
Right! Will be a real switch from creating pollution, to getting pollution to work for the world. Would be awesome if they can move a little faster on the research though. Why not create a lab for the testing of experiments out of cities like Beijing and Shanghai? They may even get extra funding for it, which could expedite the research.

That would be a nice idea. They can do some testing on isolated islands like the one that they have done on nuclear bomb testings.

Well, it's going to take time to terraform Mars. we need more technology to do that. I have also read that the scientists would also like to terraform Venus. Has it been confirmed?

Somebody besides me reads science fiction, I see. Red Mars, Blue Mars, Green Mars?

It seems to be that the scientist have proven that space-time travel is possible, not just science fiction.

-------
Star Trek's Warp Drive: Not Impossible

The warp drive, one of Star Trek's hallmark inventions, could someday become science instead of science fiction.

Some physicists say the faster-than-light travel technology may one day enable humans to jet between stars for weekend getaways. Clearly it won't be an easy task. The science is complex, but not strictly impossible, according to some researchers studying how to make it happen.

The trick seems to be to find some other means of propulsion besides rockets, which would never be able to accelerate a ship to velocities faster than that of light, the fundamental speed limit set by Einstein's General Relativity.

Whole article here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/space/20090506/sc_space/startrekswarpdrivenotimpossible
------

Maybe we could now build a large spaceship with this technology, more likely like Millenium Falcon, and travel our way to the new Earth-like planet.

I'm completely out of my depth here, but I would imagine that we would have to find a creative solution that is completely different from what we have thought about before. Something to the tune of that portal in Starwars? :)

That's an interesting article. Just think of the amount of energy you would need. I wonder what happens to mass in these situations. One of the reasons you can't travel at speeds that are close to the speed of light is that mass increases as you go faster, and if you broke the speed of light, mass would become infinite. Obviously that part of the original equation didn't apply right after the big bang.

Star Wars' warp is much better than Star Trek's. Maybe because I'm a big Star Wars fan and you can easily travel from one planet to another in just a matter of seconds or minutes.

Ah, if only that was all we needed to do, chose between the warp drives!

Has anybody seen the new Star Trek movie? What did you think? I'm planning to go this weekend.

Looks as though everything is nice and round :) Why is it that there are no square or triangular planets? They all seem to be the same shape :)
Triangular shaped planets? Seriously?

Well, I have also thought about that but I can't really imagine a planet that's like a floating pyramid in space.

I can imagine that would be one of the most magic and most watched planets of all :D

No, it wouldn't. First would come a trapezoidal planet, then maybe a dodecahedron-shaped planet? I think after that, it'd still be a hard choice between a rhombus-shaped planet and the triangular planet you suggest... :D

Seriously, though, at a guess, i'd suppose it's a gravitational phenomenon. We'll see if we can get crescent-shaped planets in another universe once we master transdimensional shift!

The circular shape is caused by the gravity. If I remember my astronomy correctly, the masses ejected from something keep the same momentum, but are smaller. It was the same phenomena of a figure skater spinning faster when they pull their arms in.

They then spin and sorta round out around a center point.

Ah, that explains why planets are spherical in shape.
And what do you think if the Earth have rings like Saturn?

Well, that's caused by the gravitational pull of planets with a large mass. It pulls asteroids and space debris, such as rocks, ice and mineral deposits into orbit. They generally run according to the electromagnetic and gravitational field of the planet.

I would wait for McDonald's and Walmart before going to any of them. If anything was really happening they would be there.;)

Honestly, I can't understand what do you meant in your post.
Can you please explain to me a bit?

In the US it seems like there is a McDonald's at every wide spot in the road. And Walmart has run many local stores (hardware. appliance, grocery and clothing) out of business So that is why I said they would be there. A tongue in cheek remark.:D

Ah, I understand now.
I really don't like McDonalds so I would rather wait for KFC to be there. ><"
