The Senate voted 77 to 23 in favor of Ben Bernanke for his second term as chairman of the Federal Reserve today. Although he won, Bernanke still faces a lot of criticism for some of his actions following the financial crisis and critics, including some within Congress, are expected to continue putting pressure on him.

Thoughts?
Why do you think they voted for him?

1. There is nobody else available?
2. They are worried that if they put a new candidate forward in this anti-Dem climate that they would have great difficulty in getting candidates approved?
3. They want to maintain the status quo?
4. They want to show that the Dems can stick together?

Some people consider the position to be the most powerful on Earth and if not that, I think most people would agree it is up there. I can see why some would want that...
Just abolish the thing and put him out of his misery. (metaphorically - i don't mean kill anyone)
If only it were that easy...

Maybe that is a good reason why Dirk's idea of abolishment would be a good one. Too much power like that can't be healthy. I also did not like all the power Greenspan had. Was responsible for some major ups and downs on the stock exchange.
