That's not exactly a surprise. I've always read that stress in general causes a lot of damage to the body. It's a holdover from years past when stress meant that we were under attack. There's no reason for our bodies to be ready to fight off a bear if we are just being grilled by a boss.
I hadn't heard any specifics about dementia before, but it makes sense that having a calm and analytical mind would help you keep it all together.
The real question is if this and other discoveries will actually bring about change in our lives.
This doesn't surprise me as well, however it's hard being laid back for some people and in some cases it's not that good being laid back at the moment as it could have some negative consequences.
What is important is to remain calm and avoid getting stressed out when a problem arises.
I am in full agreement with you and the beat way to stay calm is to have a healthy and balanced life. Mostly mind is disturbed when we let external factors overshadow our inner strength. A very good way of preventing dementia is meditation as it requires less time and effort and results are amazing and long lasting.
I can imagine the less stress on the brain helping with it. Dementia is a terrible thing, and I hated watching my grandfather suffer through it during the last few years of his life.
I hate these studies that are trying to hypnotise the masses into thinking they will be iseless and worthwhile. If you want a good old person to show you how much you should really live life to the fullest then check out Jacque Fresco. He is practically the only person on this planet that everything he says is pure genius. Makes great sense and still has a vision at his age. I think I too will be like this. Life is what you make it, not what studies tell you to do, I mean anger is a human and if you don't deal with it when you should then you suppress it and it can also cause problems. One study will always cancel another study out.
I guess so, if you lay back you are less stressed then that will help the brain, and then can help dementia, so I understand that completely, but thanks for the article, quite interesting.
