Test of political binary thinking

I've noticed that a number of folks here seem to fall prey to binary thinking.

What is binary thinking?

This traditional way of thinking has its origins in the observation of the world, a world made of oppositions (day/night, man/woman, evil/devil etc). Aristote and Descartes were the first ones to structure this logic consisting of dividing, distinguishing and opposing items. In binary thinking, there is no in-between; all is black or white, good or bad, nice or ugly. It is the law of “all or nothing”, something is perfect or …should not be.

I'm not saying that this way of thinking is limiting or primitive and simple-minded. I'm also not saying it's cave-man like to look at a thing and say , "snake...bad" or "woman...good", what I am saying is...

Ok, truthfully yes I am. I am saying all of that.

anyways, here's the test for you to see if you are incapable of seeing the necessary gray-scales of life.

First category...

Trump

Please find a thread or post where you have said something positive about Trump and also where you have said something negative about Trump. Link them to this thread. This would show that you are not merely labeling an individual as a 1 or 0 but can see both 1's and 0's within the same person. If you have a thread where you neither label positive or negative but note the gray in between, one point.

Rules:

1 point for every two posts containing a positive and a negative correlate.
(no sarcasm or posts that occur after this one)

1 point if you can find a post where you have noted something about him that finds space between the 0's and 1's, noting observations neither negative or positive.

Thank you for participating in advance. This is sure to be a delightful and for some challenging game!

Good day and God bless,

This is going to be inaccurate as is the premise as binary thinking in this regard will inherently be swayed by personal opinion. It works in logic or data based situations but, fails instantly when like/Dislike come into play.

I seriously do not like Donald Trump and have noted nothing to make a positive statement about....I do not much HillBill either but, it seems some people believe stating dislike for him is saying you like her.

In fact, there is nothing positive to be said about that pile of human manure. He is as close as it is possible to be a criminal monster, without having already received a life sentence in prison.

Some people have no redeeming qualities. You might as well expect positive opinions about Hitler or Stalin.

I agree it does not work outside of logic or data. That is why it is a poor way to think when it comes to humans, yet people use it.

people say the same thing about anyone they hate or dislike, whether its Obama or the Pope or anyone. It just doesn't hold water and is a childish/primitive way to think.

You may wish to evaluate your own input over the years before going further with this line of thought.

I think it is a good thing for everyone, including myself to evaluate. When people go to war they often dehumanize the enemy by lumping them into a binary category (jap, gook, raghead).

its not dealing in reality there and its not dealing in reality in politics either.

Obama and Trump are just men. They're not the devil or overt evil-doers. In many ways, they are much like you and me.

I was actually on a military beach in Hawaii and about 100 feet away Obama and his family arrived and went swimming. He did a lot of body-surfing and he tried to show his younger family member (nephew?) how to do it. I noticed Michelle putting sunscreen on her daughters.

It struck me then that Obama was rather normal, despite my disagreement with his political ideology.

positive thread about Obama:
