Past reflections are always eh in the SOTU given time constraints and other better sources- held true here.

Future plans more exciting, but again usually too brief to really comment on. Free community college, new Precision Health Initiative, guaranteed sick days/maternity leave etc. - let's see what details about these plans emerge in coming days.

I was not impressed by anything I heard from either side tonight. Just a big waste of time it seems to me.:(

Yea, pretty much. Nice to see you around after a long time! I haven't been around much at all myself.

I have been sick. I even had a poo-bag for over 4 months. How are you?

Ah... sorry to hear that. GI problems can be a pain. I've been okay- just finishing up school; only a few more months until I graduate and start work full time so I can start paying off those students loans

Just a bunch of pie-in-the-sky crap. There is no such think as a free lunch. "Somebody" has to pay for it, and (actual) taxpayers pays too much as it is! We need less government & control, not more - hello?! We need to free the entrepreneurs to actually turn the economy around.

All Obama has done is long overdue stop the bleeding. But the patient is still way low on blood.

The historic Republican sweep in November was proof positive that Americans know what is really going on (or lack thereof), and are not fooled by all the OBama Speak!!! :smug:

Obama should have been humbled by his party's big loss, yet he seemed to be completely oblivious to it.
I think this may be his plan.

Plan A get the Republicans to suck up to him and do everything his way.

PlanB Force the Republicans to do something silly so he can blame the failures on them for the next two years.

I could be wrong. I try not to think of him if I can avoid it.;)

Or like most final term Presidents in their last 2 years he doesn't care because he doesn't need to get reelected? It's about the legacy at this point.

As for failures- things are looking up right now and the future looks brighter than it has for many years even if it may not be because of anyone in Congress or the White House. That'll help Obama regardless.

True enough. For me I just don't see the light. But I think he will fake it if he can.

Job market is looking much better, unemployment is way down, economic outlook and stock market look strong, etc. - again I don't attribute most of this to the Hill - more to the Fed and other entities, but the politicians always like to take credit when things are good- so this will help him.

On the healthcare side, things like number of uninsured and healthcare costs look better too- the first one he had something to do with, the second probably not.

I don't think you missed much. He struck me as dishonest ,fake, and a bully. And he loves those victory laps.;)

I'm really disappointed in that guy. I voted for the other guy, but he could have been so much more than he was. He could have been a uniter, but he chose division. The first black man to be president could have ment so much more than just another mouth piece politician droning his way through the presidency.

He was given the opportunity of a lifetime and he chose to be piss poor.

How very disappointing.

That's the thing. If you offer a bunch of free stuff to people there is a whole population of parasites who will chose your party just to cash in on that free stuff. The rest know that nothing is free and it will have to be paid for somehow.
