France is a beautiful place. The people are delightful and the food is excellent. The Government... well, then again, i'm not a fan of any Government really.
That all may be true for you. But I think a hick like me would be more welcome in Iraq than in France. 9 out of ten times I see or read anything from the French they are telling the US how wrong we are. And many times we are wrong. But they don't have to be so snotty about it. I think they have waited for years for the US to crumble. Who knows, they might get their wish. They want to be what the US was years ago. But it will never happen. They come off to me like jealous spiteful people.;)

Hell, my lot invaded them twice last century. I didn't feel a twinge of resentment.

I think they're very proud of doing things their own way. And a side-effect is thinking every other way is stupid/wrong etc. That's not such a good thing - it will blind them towards mistakes they're themselves making.

I think they have waited for years for the US to crumble. Who knows, they might get their wish.

*shrugs*

Nothing lasts forever.

They want to be what the US was years ago. But it will never happen.

They probably will as part of the EU.

They come off to me like jealous spiteful people.;)

I might note that a people aren't defined by their media. What's more, they are people like you or I. They aren't "different" because they're French.

"Hell, my lot invaded them twice last century.":D And maybe they should have been allowed to keep them. It would be hard to get some Americans to give them a hand these days. I had 6 great uncles fighting Germany at one time. Four were brothers. Some were wounded but all made it back to the US. The youngest was killed here on his way home. See he had a lot of "back pay" and wanted to show it to his mom. He was killed, robbed and put on a train track. Made it "home" and was still buried in pieces.

Something that's interesting is that Germans all really like Americans and the British - the reason is we're glad to be rid of the Nazis.

But i mean, the Nazis invaded France. They were liberated by the Americans and Brits as well. So it's odd. I can see why they don't like the British - there's been some kind of vendetta between them for centuries. But France supported the United States (probably just to undermine the British), so...?

Ah, people are so confusing.

I wish I could come to Germany and try all those beers myself. But it will never happen. Since I don't have Tiger Woods money.

See how I got back on topic?:D

Well, if you look at all your points above as well as in your previous postings, one could easily think that you have something against Americans? So it is OK to have something about the Americans but not the French?

I have something against the way the u.s. is run, thats true and I GIVE REASONS!!!! *L*

Your welcome to ate France, just please, for the love of all thats good, TELL ME WHY?! and dont say "because they eat cheese" or something retarded, give me a good reason, please.

I doubt that some of the people in the United States (I'm certain that not all Americans are against the French) are the only ones that do not care about the French. There are a large number of people internationally who do not care much about French politicians either and who find French politicians inclined to lose their cool and just full of peculiarities. I thought some Canadians also had issues about the French, particularly on the level of the French sometimes being more equal than the English in Canada? They will of course not speak loudly about it, as that would be politically incorrect, but privately I've heard remarks and irritations about the Qubecois?

You don't understand Canadian french dynamics, the french speakers in Canada have about as much to do with France as England has to do with the U.S.

The issues we deal with the french here have to do with the french fear that their culture is disappearing, thats not even a remote concern for the french in France.

Tell me you hate France because of their politicians and I can point to many countries that have much worse politicians but at least that would be a reason.

Noone in the world hates the french more then the americans, noone even complains about them like americans, Europeans make fun of each other constantly, germans of east germans and turks, the french with people from their ex colonies, england and arabs, etc etc etc and every combination in between but NOONE complains about France more then the u.s., you stand alone.

The reason I hate France is because they are "fair weather friends. We can't count on them because they really don't like the US. So they can just look down their arrogant noses at the rest of the world forever. That is fine with me.

Funny but anyone I have talked to from France are always asking me why the u.s. hates them *L* they arent fans of the u.s. but then noone really is anymore, when the whole freedom fries thing happened they just collectively shrugged and figured u were all insane.

1. What do u mean by fair weather friends? because they didnt join the Iraq war? noone supported you *L* england was shunned for supporting you but noone else agreed with it.

2. They dont look their nose down at the u.s. anymore then any other western country, thats just wrong.

Trust me, with Dean that's not an issue. He also researches his points vigourously. To demonstrate by comparison, i usually do things off the top of my head and things i know. That's why his responses are always much more well-structured than mine.

I agree. Sarkozy is a prick, but i don't like ol' Angela, either.

A few Brits seriously dislike the French. But in mainland Europe, it's mainly lighthearted.

When "people on the street" are interviewed more than half make it very clear how they don't like the US. Which is their right. As it is my right not to like the French. No law requires us to like each other. We come from an entirely different background. And neither is likely to change in my lifetime. But seriously, I do not lose any sleep worrying about how the French feel about anything. I even eat French dressing on salad at times.

I know you think everything about me is silly. I sat right in front of my TV a few years ago and watched a news crew asking people on the street how they felt about the US. Had I known I would run into you later I would have recorded it and sent it to you.:p Damn, why is it so important to you how I feel about the French and why?

But this is my point, you watched some goofy show that wanted to make fun of americans, go out and talk with french people who made fun of americans and now you think thats the way all french people are ...

Should I assume americans are just like the people in these videos? Would I be accurate in assuming your all like this?

Really? all americans like this? guess I should turn off my brain and assume they are all this clueless ...

I really don't care either way. On my list of important 0 to 10 this is a 2. I am not going to change my mind anymore than you are going to change yours.

If it makes you feel better I will just say the French are great friends to the US and we should all move to France as soon as possible. You seem to be the only one worrying about this. France was not the only country I named are they all great friends to the US? I can't give an honest opinion about France. Why do I not have a right not to like France? Would you want me to hammer you like this about every opinion you give? I joined this board. I did not marry you or have to explain my every thought to you.

My point is, with respect, you havent thought this through.

Im not "worried" about the fact that the u.s. hates the french, i just asked WHY and I still dont have an answer *L*, its a simple question.

Why are u getting defensive? this is a forum, your supposed to challenge me in my ideas and vice versa.

Why are u so afraid of the answers to my questions?

Your good ideas will change me, thats what I want, I want to hear your good ideas, I want to incorporate the good ideas you have into myself, why dont you share more of your philosophy?

Theres nothing wrong with questioning things, maybe it makes u uncomfortable, but dont u want to better yourself?

Well provided that I can observe the Frenchies from a respectable distance if you would like me to be a little kinder, I would say they can be very funny in their absurdity. Like eating smelly cheese, and shouting at one another in the middle of the street about the most rediculous of occurrences. The Pink Panther series sort of give a very good description of the French People and especially French Government from a humouristic point of view. Including all the pomp and ceremony that is really beyond rediculous. But can be humouristic too as proven by the movie. :giggle:

I will give you all the answer I have with respect too.

I gave you all the answers I had at the time. I don't like "anyone" "nagging" me even on a good day. Having had an unexpected death in my close family at 1:00AM on Dec. 15th and another at about 6:30AM on Christmas morning after 10 days on a ventilator I have not been having a lot of good days. Call it copping out or say I am afraid of your questions if that makes you happy.(right now questions are the last thing I fear.) I have too much going on in my life with all this plus a wife that the doctors are saying is "running out of options" and may not live through her next surgery. So excuse me if France and "bettering my myself" is not my main concern right now.

The reason I have not posted all this before was because I wanted to have a few "unstressed" moments. Not wonder what one person was going to be badgering me about everytime I log in here.

So maybe it is my fault I can never satisfy you with my answers. If so I apologize.

Come on, those are stereotypes (cheese and shouting at each other) and then u say u base your ideas of the french on the pink panther series?

You cant seriously think that portrays the french realistically?
