How about we let those reading this decide who is arrogant, disrespectful, illogical, sensationalist, etc.? We are clearly biased
And what does anarchism have to do with theism? There are plenty of anarchists who believe in God and vice-versa.
Okay lets start this over, forget all this petty crap, and explain how my responses were incorrect.
The government never makes things better, everything they touch turns to garbage.
This is a blanket statement which is obviously incorrect.
Its evident, public schools are lagging because government that controls them are inept, there is obviously a problem and being that the government is the entity in charge they are to blame. They ruined the system with the nonsense they think is important.
This is mere opinion, portrayed as fact. Evident to you, but perhaps not someone else.
Or schools are lagging because their major purpose is to pass a test, not to educate. Education should be the goal not anything else.
Is the government making schools better? Is that what you mean by falling behind? I know you have difficulty with the meaning of language but in no world is "falling behind in school" a good thing.
This is nothing more than purposeful insult, and a rather unfortunate choice of direction considering you skills with grammar and composition.
Or is the purpose of school to make sure that kids learn how to fill in bubbles with a number two pencil?
What did I say that was not correct? I don't mean the lies you said that I said, but the words typed by me.
I can point our where you were wrong, where your words were fabricated to insult me.
Might I suggest you two take a little break ?
I would like to suggest that an internet forum need not be taken so seriously that we allow it to impact our lives negatively. Just as in real life, there will be personalities we do not enjoy...thus we have the freedom to ignore them, and pay attention to those we do.
I tend to use this freedom often.
I bet discipline and respect skills have delcined right with the math and science scores. The behavior we've become immune to from our youth is quite obviously directly related to their performance in schools. Where I won't champion teacher's nor their unions, performance cannot be set in their lap alone. Nor is the school system to blame full on. Parenting, society itself, and family structure are in decline, we all sit here and debate why our students lag.
Well I care for a kid, he is fourteen but thus arrangement is only 8 months old for me. So I am learning everything on the fly. he makes okay grades, he is in the higher end, b's not d's.
Some of the ap classes he has are not about higher skill but more homework. I think he wants to attend college so AP classes are good for that. I don't really know much about his parents and their involvement in his education. But he has never attended public school his social skills are lesser but he helps other students with academics.
I really think it is parents. Kids need to be supported and their accomplishments recognized and praised. even for the small triumphs
True that even small triumphs need to be recognized and praised, clax, but then where is the balance? Accomplishments we must praise, support, and encourage. But misbehavior must be scorned, discouraged, and set right. With lead by example parenting, teaching, and community encouragement. There must be some moral code. Some sense of right and wrong, some ability for society to hold judgement.
Do you as well believe Parents must discipline, that fatherless households must be discourged for example?
Our personal beliefs aside, there needs to be some consensus. I happen to think marriage is on the decline and thus so are our children. I believe fewer fathers in homes is a national catastophe, I believe the fractured family does more harm than good...but that's just me. We don't give children today the same sense of right and wrong, you hear it from everyone, 'today's children' aren't raised the same.
And something is going on. Some idiot dressed as the Joker in some movie theatre. An insane gunman in a grade school, a gunman in a college, Columbine, our children are being poisoned by something somewhere and I'm not smart enough to put a finger on it, I do however think it undeniable.
Role of the father figure agreed. I remember reading somewhere that after WW2, we brought our troops home with prorities in mind. Firstly, those that had just been in combat received early return home tickets. Secondly, were those(mostly fathers) who had children waiting at home, we seemed to understand generations ago that the male in the home was critical. Today, not so much.
