Vampires

I'm not sure if this would fall under conspiracies, but I guess it could as UFOs are part of it.

Anyway, apparently there are some people out there who think that vampires are real. While this might sound absurd, I can see why as vampires generally speaking are not that paranormal when compared to other creatures. I mean let's say aliens and ghosts were real, why not vampires too right?

As for my beliefs, if such humans with fangs do exist I highly doubt they can transform into bats but perhaps they might actually drink blood due to some strange disorder..

That's actually where the myth came from (I believe...memory is a little dusty). Dracula came from Vlad the Impaler and his brutal reign, but he wasn't the only one. There were a number of other nobles who were very brutal and sick in their rule. The peasants naturally spread rumors about the real reason for all the blood. It didn't help that there were a few cases where they really were killing people for their blood. I'd have to look up the case, but I know there was a formal trial and conviction at one point for a noble woman who would kill her poor servant girls and bath in their blood to retain her youth.

There is also a basic vampires disease. I forget the exact name, but I thought it was a branch of hemophilia. They were severely anemic and at the same time quite pale. The disease also made their eyes very sensitive to light, so they usually didn't go out much during the day. The common treatment for anemia at that time was to drink animal blood. Again, people start rumors and they grow into a life of their own.

That's what I heard at least. I had also heard a report or two that it would usually be isolated towns in the South, where everyone was afraid of vampires. Someone mentioned going somewhere and seeing bundles of garlic outside every house. Interesting...to say the least.

Yeah that historical Dracula was the one that inspired some authors to start the whole vampire movement.

As for that town you're talking about, it's quite possible as I've seen my share of superstitious people as well. However, carrying garlic around is a bit too far. But I guess that's the power of superstition.

Yeah im sure they exist, as you said, they aren't exactly paranormal. However its just a bunch of psychopaths.

I actually forgot about that. There's definitely "vampires" out there. I actually read a really disturbing page on wikipedia the other day about a serial killer who would basically count as a vampire. Garlic won't do a bit of good against these crazies though.

The centeral superstition of some sects of religion ( Catholics for one ) drinking blood and eating flesh, under scaramental apperance of wine and bread. In the Bible...Gen. 9:4 "But you must not eat meat that has life blood still in it". Heb. 9:22 and almost all things are by law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. Act.15:29 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood. I guess they were blood thirsty back then.

Vampires and warewolves! Arrrghhhh! LOL. While I don't think they are real there is many explanations as to why people may think they are. I like to remind myself every now and then that wives tales usually start with some truth and while this may be a complete falacy, is there another creature/alien that may have started all the rumours? With modern warfare becoming even more biological it won't be too long and we'll all be sucking at each others neck like a 30 days of night and that famous generation of movies, i am legend, 28 weeks later etc.

I believe that people can be vampires in the sense of leeching off your life's essence. When you encounter someone like that, you will always feel drained after just having a conversation with them and they in turn will become even more lively and continue talking or working on your nerves. That is my story and I stick with it. Now werewolves...that is a completely different story for another day.

Well Parakeet pretty much covered the basics as far as the extent of "real" vampires. It would be cool if vampires did exist - Cullen style, but like most things in fiction, they don't. Oh well! Warewolves on the other hand, absolutely not.

I don't think that actual vampires creep around. I do think people have some disorders that make them have vampire like tendencies, but as for half-breeds hunting the night for scared little girls then making emo crappy teen dramas then no. No real Vampires. I do think there are ghosts...but not the scooby-doo type. Just spirits.

There's also a disease like this, which I can't remember the name, in which one tend to suck his own blood for pleasure and contentment. A documentary tackled this issue after the debut of the Twilight movie.

Well... I can also say that people who tends to go out at night instead of day are like vampires. That includes night shift workers.

I don't think there is anything as a vampire, maybe people who were brutal in the way they behaved or even from cannibals. But I don't think there is anything as a real vampire anywhere beside in folklore.

Some people are so obsessed they think they are vampires, but like you said, it's highly doubtful people turn into bats.

My question is if vampires where real would you like to stay human or join the dark side ^_^?

Vampires are humans. Oddly acting, darkness loving and cynical to the point of annoyance but humans all the same. Blood seems to be fuel for their powers more then food though I've never heard of a vampire not suffering great pain when denied blood for an extended time. Well I did know 1 but it took a really nasty potion that poisoned and nearly killed him to do it.

Great, I sound crazy now...

Some people do it because they think it's cool too....

However, the disease mentioned can also make you crave raw meat, which couldnt have helped with the whole "werewolf" thing.

I think I also read that Mr impaler would bathe in the blood of his victims. I can also remember several (elite) women doing similar, saying it promoted youth and healthy skin.

I can't say if it does or not, but personally I don't think I could do it. The blood would congeal into clots and yuck...I'm not sure if heating it would stop that.

That's why you drink blood form live pray. But I'm with you, nasty regardless.

No I meant in the bath.

WARNING: Do NOT read if you have a weak stomach!!!!!

At the beginning of the year I had SEVERE nosebleeds. I literally filled up my sink half way with the blood in under 15 minutes while the ambulance came. It was flowing out of me so fast I was choking because it couldnt get out my nose fast enough and wanted out my mouth. I swallowed a LOT of it and I lost my hearing because it forced its way into my ears.

Anyway the sink plug had broken when I put it down last, and I was waiting for help to fix it....but in my hurry not to bleed everywhere I didnt give a crap about the plug. I watched it start to congeal into little blobs... since I'd run the water to wet a cloth to put on my nose to cool it cause I couldnt get ice there was some water in there (about a cups worth) so it was separating in it like oil. I thought it was kinda neat...

ANYWAY when I got to the hospital it took them forever to stop the bleeding and I went into shock, almost died, yada yada. When I returned home the sink was full of off coloured "water" and dark red clots. It made me throw up because I'd swallowed so much I thought about it doing that in my stomach.

The time I went to the ER before that for the nosebleeds they stopped it and I had to blow the clots out of my nose. To give you an idea, 3 large eggs fit in the back of your nose. It's INSANE. Those things were about the same consistency of eggs too, but a bit harder and not likely to slide away or break apart like an egg.

Point is, you'd probably need like 6-12 humans to fill a bathtub with blood. It takes about 5 or so minutes to start clotting in front of you....and that makes it thicker....

Imagine, not only the smell of copper, but the blood you're "bathing" in slowly turning darker and into lumpy soup.

Personally, I couldnt do it :(
By the way my hearing came back, but I had to live with ear infections while the blood drained out of my ears (it's okay, you couldnt see or taste it, it just happened lol).

^ that is disgusting.

Any chance you have seen Daybreakers? Pretty good Vampire movie compared to the likes of Twilight lol. I would probably be a Vampire if it was something along the lines of Underworld.
