Chavez will win because he is popular and that is because he has social programs that have help the poor improve their lot. They are getting medical care and education,he has done a lot of good for Venezuela. The other candidate is just another rightwing foll who wants to sell everything off and hitch his wagon to the American train again, well that has been done before and did not work. All that happens in that scenario is that a very small percentage of the rich get richer off the states oil wealth and the poor and the rest of the people get nothing.

It's computer voting so he stays in office.

Their voting system is better than ones used in virtually all countries,it is better than the American system for starters and Chavez has been democratically elected in all his elections.

Helping the poor? Have you seen Venezeula's inflation rate lately? (and the public sentiment towards it)

Helping the poor? Have you seen Venezeula's inflation rate lately? (and the public sentiment towards it)

In a democratic system, realty doesn't matter. If the poor think they are better off (and they do for the most part), they will vote for Chavez. The man is an intelligent dictator, fill the military with his supporters and make the common people love him (using state media to cultivate his image as a hero) so he can hold elections safely and he'll never have to worry about a coup or popular uprising. Castro did the same thing and ended up stepping down on his own terms, the folks in the Mideast on the other hand were too heavy handed and now...

I suggest you go look at the amount of poor when he came to power and look at them now and you will find that it has been reduced by 2/3rds.

He is not a dictator. He was voted in by the people in democratic elections. You do not have to believe all the BS you read in silly American newspapers.

some people just have no reason. If they are at odds with the USA giap thinks they are the best people on the planet. He is an america hater. I cant say the real word because myp will scold me, but the long and short of it is, he will never see reason. Due to his rational.

So dictators don't get elected? So adolf hitler was not a dictator?

Nobody reads american newspapers. Thats why they are shutting down left and rigjt.

If you are going to insult someone atleast do it properly.

Chavez is not Hitler..and Hitler was never democratically elected to power. He was handed power by Hindenburg and later brought in laws to repress everyone who was against him. Buy a history book please..this is high school stuff.

It is arguable. A lot of countries and leaders and people call him a dictator. I believe he is a dictator too.

No a lot of countries do not call him a dictator..America and some of its allies do and that is it..a tiny minority in the world.

BS!

It's computer voting which means that it is NOT important who votes but who counts the vote.

It's a preview of our elections with so many Democrats in charge of the election process. Massive fraud.

That is true for paper ballots too. I am not going to comment on the Venezeulan vote counting system because frankly I don't know much if anything about it, but election fraud is more about checks and balances and transparency than just electronic v. paper.

Yes, there can be election fraud with paper ballots, just study LBJ's elections.

The point is that with computer voting, once a voter has entered their vote, they have absolutely no trail of how it is counted. At least with paper ballots there is a trail of this paper and it can be counted again. With computer voting there is no trail.

If you do not vote on paper, you have not voted.

You're assuming theres isn't a paper trail. Most electronic voting booths have a printout.
