Link? Our #3 oil supplier (behind ourselves and Canada) having a leadership issue up might not be a good thing for our economy.

Pretty sure they are more like 5th or 6th, not 3rd. Either way, the market doesn't seem to care so far (oil markets not reacting poorly).

Really? Still, my point stands and markets don't always respond right away if there's stability, Venezuela isn't some 3rd World warlord's playground after all.

He'll be forgotten as soon as the businesses he stole have their property returned. You a fan of any other dictators?

He wasn't really a dictator, just a really popular president who wasn't afraid of using his political clout and didn't care about his opponent's opinions.

Chavez's socialist regime could have been overthrown by the CIA if he had come to power in the Cold War era but the Obama administration did nothing to stop a socialist takeover of Venezuera. America supported unsavourly right-wing regimes in Latin America because left-wing alternatives could have caused a ripple effect all over Latin America and Washington had to make sure that Latin America would stay capitalist. The same containment policy was applied to South Africa and the ANC was suppressed because it was too socialist to be trusted while the apartheid regime was propped up by the West and the end of apartheid in South Africa coincided with the end of the Cold War.

And that's a bad thing?

It seems that perhaps our country has learned a few lessons ('bout freakin' time)....and no longer tries to force other countries to do what we want.

Personally, I am tired of feeling bad about our foreign policy.
