Ongoing violence in Syria involving the national army has led to the Arab League economic committee to pose sanctions on the country. The sanctions still need to be voted on. :

I think it will hurt "the people" as much or more than the government. The "strong man" governments seem to do much better than the country as a whole under sanctions.

Sanctions don't work. It will hurt both countries and the peoples of both countries. All for politics.
