People doing a 2 year term for possession of controlled substance isn't a good reason to execute them.

I am not so sure that the capital punished really serves a purpose other than vindication. It doesn't really stop that type of crime.

I think we ought to reevaluate the criminal justice system.

So you don't think the real fear of death for ANY crime, no matter how minor, will NOT deter future criminals?

Such as? Like let criminals get an education, earn a degree, find "God", work out and become stronger so when they are released they make better criminals? No. I'm sorry, but I have no sympathy for those who choose to break the law repeatedly. Esp. when they get slaps on then wrist, then proceed to commit yet another crime, then are finally put in jail only to have it be a luxury resort.

The problem is not capital punishment or not, it's that American prisons are like hotels. If you take away all rights, all the bullshit criminals get to do, and esp. their friggin' cigarettes, I promise you, crime will go down.

American prisons are nice gulags, not hotels. That's Scandinavia.

The point being, American prisons are so mice I've seen shows where some real inmates prefer being there because they are housed, fed, and can do pretty much whatever they want. This needs to stop.

Indeed, we need to start using the 2nd 1/2 of the 13th Amendment that enslaves convicts.

No, I don't. It has never worked in the past and out currently doesn't work. Capital offences still occur. Clearly it doesn't work.

Besides execution for unpaid parking tickets seems quite harsh.

We in the United states tend to lick to many people up.

It "may not work", but I'd rather execute them all instead of having my taxes pay for a lifetime of luxury while everyone on the "outside" busts their asses just to stay above water.

Either way your tax dollars are going to pissy for them.

This entire discussion is meaningless as nothing in the United States will ever change, but if all current inmates were mass executed, all at once, I'm sure it would save money over the course of time rather than having everyone on death row for 50 years...

Ive never been a strong advocate of the death penalty one way or the other. Though I can say from knowing someone who is currently in prison for a serious crime, the thought of the death penalty only brings more sadness. Im pretty sure though my personal thoughts on it could change if the circumstances of it were worse,

You mean execute everybody on death row or everybody in jail period?

It would save money to simply execute all people who live on government assistance where is that line drawn?

I'm on government assistance but I'm not a felon, or some murderer who gets a free lunch every day.

Lots of people that are felons don't deserve to die. You want to execute them for being a burden, yet they aren't the largest burden.
