In my humble opinion, to go for socialism, you have to really trust that a few in government to do right.
you have to believe that they altruistically want what's best for the masses.
Those kind socialists up in their ivory towers really just want us to have equal and fair amounts of everything.
Sure, and you have that view because you have an erroneous view of socialism! You think socialism has, or can have, government control of workers, production, and profits.
I have news for you. If that is what you have, you don't have socialism. Why? Because by definition socialism is "the liberation of the working class from the exploitation of wage slavery". In other words, socialism is a radical change in the
relationship of worker to work and worker to management. It puts workers in control and ownership. If that doesn't exist, it's not socialism.
Lenin talked about the possible need for Russia to transition to "state capitalism" in order to develop the productive forces. That is what they now have. The
relationship of worker to work and to management is as it would be under capitalism. The worker has no ownership and no control over what is produced, how it is produced, where it is produced, or what is done with the profits.
So your concerns about government control in socialism are without merit.
