May he rest in peace. For anyone who does not know his story, you should definitely check out "Charlie Wilson's War"- a great movie based on what many would call his defining moment as a Congressman.

Personally, I don't think meddling in that battle was really our job, but Wilson is someone who I respect nonetheless because he seemed to always want the best for the people.

Sorry to hear about his passing. Two Republicans and one Dem more or less at the same age. Wonder whether their contemporaries in Congress and Senate must be worred about that age?

I think we have seen some of those weapons and techniques used against us too.
Right! The irony of it :help:Sometimes it can really get back to front. This is a worldwide phenomenon however. I remember a number of ex colonies, who had used the armaments that had been given to them by their foreign Government on that Government to gain their liberation. Wonder whether when the US produces their armaments for gifts to foreign armies, whether they should build in an obsolescence factor in it, or better yet use special ammunition that has a limited edition manufacturing timespan.

It might not hurt to have a "self destruction" option in anything with electronics.

Maybe there are already built-in self destruction ones, especially the "Made in China" ones
I have heard rumors that some of our missiles can be disarmed from hitting us. But if true how would we know.

You remind me of the "A Team" with Mr. T, Hannibal and the rest, think they showed how best to combine the two :giggle:
We could do better with less. Just fight to win. Kill people and blow stuff up. Don't slow down to turn the lights back on as we leave. We are one of the few countries that tries to fight a war and not hurt anyone or cause any "extra" damage.

Right, but I like it that way. For me it is the difference between civilization and barbarism. I find what the terrorists are doing is barbaric, and to retaliate equally barbaric may colour the pot as black as the kettle. On the other hand, war is ugly and to be involved in war some of the ugliness cannot help to rub off on the participants. In order to be successful in combat with the enemy it is inevitable that some of their ugliness will rub off on their pursuers.

True. But the US gets no credit for even trying to hold back. We could save some American lives if we were as mean as our accusers say we are. I wonder how they would like us if we really did go hell for leather on our enemies some time. Just turn it all loose on their butts! Give them all we have. Then maybe they would see the difference. Because so far we are just the bad guys. And Bad guys don't care.

Totally agreed. I sometimes wonder whether the American people could be their own worst enemies, but then perhaps that kind of criticism is good, as at least it keeps the military on its toes for watching out for abuses. But I agree with you, not enough credit is given for holding back, and perhaps the accusations have been very biased and heavily politicized as well.

Million of civilians would be dead, all of the enemy military's units would be wiped out, KIA or POW, the fields would be burnt and every city, town and village of importance would be sacked.

And with a country like Afghanistan, it would take a day to win and a month to mop up.

The war would be 90% cheaper, our combat casualties would be 0 and we'd have the political respect of N. Korea. :D

That's the thing alot of our hatters and enemies don't seem to realize don't realize, we're not trying to win. We could steam roll Al Quida in a day if we just said screw the civs and dropped a bunch of MOABs on every square inch of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

I have always wondered if we would need to turn something into an ant farm to get them to understand.
