Last month, Amazon cut off its affiliates in Illinois after the state passed a bill that requires online retailers to pay sales tax on purchases made by Il state residents. The bill was passed as the state's fiscal irresponsibility is finally starting to catch up with them. Unfortunately, this is just another horrible idea the state has come up with to try to fix things.

Now, Overstock has followed Amazon, notifying its affiliates in Illinois that they will no longer be able to participate in the program either for the same reason. The costs of the sales tax are already becoming pretty apparent.

That is a move better made in prosperous times. Not when gas is going up and so many have little or no income.:( I may be a anti-tax type of guy. But there are some taxes that may be needed if we can dig out of this ditch. This is just the wrong time in my opinion.
