Brad Delong argues that the Fed should have charged interest on its huge lending to Morgan Stanley in September 2008 just as the government did with TARP. The argument is a sensible one (if you are for such actions by the Fed).

For those of you who were too busy arguing whether the red elephant or blue donkey is better, this is in regards to Bloomberg's victory a few days ago in the fight against the Fed to extract info on lending to banks that was previously disclosed. The released data showed Morgan Stanley's borrowings from the Fed go from $21.5 billion on 9/16/2008 to $107 billion eight working days later.

Anyone that gets a loan should be paying some interest. And anything that is "too big to fail" needs to be broken up in to smaller fail size pieces.

And while their at it he should look into paying interest on tax lones as well. Refunds are nice but I'd like a bit of interest on that lone. ;)

And for the record: The red elephant is better

The red elephant needs to be shot for it's ivory so we can pay off our debt and the blue donkey needs to be processed for glue so we can keep this country together in 1 piece.
