Maybe some of you people on this forum naturally never heard such a term because soldiering is only a profession in your country but it isnt' like this at some countries in the world. The council of Europe had recognized this as a personel right, so we have to do the same in a few years. Probabaly they will provide an alternative to them like in Germany, longer civil service or shorter military...

I've saw them during to my interview at the military center. Some people are saying the religion, which is İslam doesn't allow them to do military service, as if Atheists and others of this country do enjoy soldiering very much. Many people dislike this of course but, if we have a resposıbility for a country, we must share this equally.

Also I'm aganist the professional army like you have in the US. At this philosophy, soldiering is something comparable with the money. İsn't it wrong, it may works excellent in US but I find this philosophically wrong because only poor people would join the army in this case at my country, especially when we are losing soldiers in the fight aganist terrorism, I think, where I stand on this issue is more humanist and right than the one who is refusing to join and want the army to be turned into a private company. We can go nowhere just by thinking ourselfs. And I simply aganist either soldiering as an aristocrat profession(like in history) or poor poeple's profession(maybe present). Of course the professionals do command us there but we shouldn't leave all this on a class of people like buying personel security.

It's ether that or put a rifle is everyone's hands and force them to fight. Citizen armies win wars, conscript armies cause them. I'd rather not go the way of the Romans or go back to the days of conscripts fragging their COs.

There are three possibilities:

1) No War~ not possible
2) Do not fight back~ No country left
3) Fight~ Current state of affairs

The Idea of defense is to defeat an aggressor, or to prevent the aggression through intimidation.
The United States Military seems to be the most effective force at this. Partially due to large capital investments, and partially due to the incentive a volunteer force creates.

I see a draft, or mandatory service as an inferior means of defending national interest.

I sort of agree. A pure military draft always backfires if it's anything more then a supplement to a citizen military (as was the case with the Great War and WW2 drafts) but a draft that, after basic, allows a person to enter into a civil service if war isn't their thing is something I can get behind. The DMV with military efficiency and discipline would make for a nice change. :p

Turkey has 1 of the most modern armies in NATO... Also suicide bombing are an Indian thing, the Muslims saw how many of their people it killed and realized it was an effective weapon.

Might I recommend you spend a bit of time educating yourself on a topic before replying?

Expressing talking points from the Becks of the world does not equate to education, by the way.

Sri Lankan?* But even then, I don't like to say it is the thing of any nation or religion because it isn't. It is a thing of extremists within those nations or religions.

Also, going before modern times, I believe there were suicide "bombers" that used petards even before.
