Not Defense Spending?

Not defense spending? How is that possible? Have the Democrats been lying to us all these years? They wouldn't do that, would they?

The new study confirms that what's been driving the increases in spending hasn't been that old liberal boogeyman defense spending. It's entitlement programs - Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and other transfer and welfare programs.

How can this be? If only the rich would pay their fair share. Paying 60% of ones income in taxes is not asking too much, is it?

Welfare (aka 'Entitlements') is 10% of spending. Defense is 14%. Try again.

In reality I find that all 99% of Politician are liars. I don't put to much faith in graphs or charts because they are all bias in some way shape or form to reflect that groups best interests.

The only information I find at least somewhat credible is government watchdog groups. Though even then you must be careful. Though I find Third party politicians usually are more truthful when it comes to looking at the issues. They have the least amount to lose because in reality they are not back by any big groups or corporations. SO when they put information out most of it is truthful because all the third party candidates at this point know their chance of winning is slim and none.

I just showed you (literally showed you) how money was being spent, so cut the crap.

Your Chart shows in reality nothing more then an opinion to be honest.

I can do the same thing and it shows opposite what yours shows.

Charts are again bias to one sides views so little trust can be put into them when come either from MSM, or those affiliated with the major parties

Your chart is also for a different year... :p My chart also shows total spending, not just discretionary.

Yet we just started 2013 so how would they know how much we spent until the end of the year. Yours would need to be a projection of spending for the year correct?

2012 just finished which would make mine more current :D. How can you chart spending for a year that has just started and say this is total going to be spent by the US when the year is 22 days old?

So, you did not read the link. Figures.

p.s., I even quote it for you in my post.

It's entitlement programs - Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and other transfer and welfare programs.

You can still total up what has been spent so far plus earmarks. It doesn't really matter, defense is still the single largest spending item.

No disagreement from me I agree that military is the biggest expenditure we have. Entitlements being the next biggest.

That is only discretionary spending. Please show us entitlement spending, thanks.

Define entitlements, taxpayer investments being payed out aren't entitlements unless you need to add them to welfare to make a stupid, illogical right wing arguments. :)

The definition, for the purpose of this thread, has been defined.

It's entitlement programs - Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and other transfer and welfare programs.

Yes but 'entitlements' implies a sense of entitlement. People pay for things like SS and medicare/caid. Taxpayer investments aren't entitlements, they're purchased services being rendered. The only thing that fits the entitlement label without being a bunch of political BS is welfare.
