I Like the IRS! Where did they do anything wrong ? Does anyone know anything that they specifically did that could be considered unfair or improper ? They do have to check for the validity of tax exempt statuses, based on their specifications, no ?

What mainly bothers me is all these super-rich greed freaks who engage in tax dodging, like with fake addresses in the Cayman Islands. I's like to see the IRS tax their butts off.

Yes but no liberal, Occupy or religious group and/or charity not affiliated with the TP was targeted. ONLY the TP and it's open allies were affected. This is some obvious banana republic stuff that went down. I don't really mind, the TP needs to be muzzled but to say this wasn't a political attack is just naive.

I could believe that, IF I were shown evidence that the TP is not the only group that the IRS could find (maybe they were ?) that asked for tax exempt status based on being a "social welfare" organization, while not being that.

What would be their "social welfare" qualification ? Helping rich greed freaks avoid paying taxes ? Helping the rich to get richer ? Lets see someone (anyone) in this forum show EXAMPLES of other groups whose status is similar to the TP (asking for tax exemption, but no social welfare connection), and didn't get the attention of the IRS

1. The Tea Party is much more than a nationalist group. If they were just a nationalist group, I'd support them myself.

2. Maybe the reason why you find this "backwards" as you say, is because you are nowhere close to having a grasp of what is backwards, fowards, or in proper place, with respect to my politics in general. Try this quote from my ex-wife, on for size. I'll use the name "protectionist" although the original quote had my real name in it. She said >> "There's 2 ways of doing things. The protectionist way. From what I've heard, Obama was as surprised and angry as he seemed. The idea that the IRS leadership was in the dark I have a harder time buying.

Question was: what did the IRS do that was wrong ? Their job is to investigate tax exempt status of applicants. So ? Isn't that what they're doing ?

I heard that they are granting tax exemption to the Tea Party. If that's the case, I would see THAT as something the IRS might be doing wrong.

From what I heard they were "profiling" and delaying TP applications. I know that is fine with you. But how would it be if a Republican was profiling anything that had progressive in the paperwork. See I would love that. So maybe it is best if they just treat everyone the same.

As a registered Independent with likes and dislikes of both Republicans and Democrats, I'm open to any profiling by the IRS, as long as they are doing it to comply with their requirements (of 501c4 - social welfare function)

I have been registered as both Republican and Democrat over the last 40 or so years. Just because I like to vote in the primary elections. And I don't trust 99% of them to "do the right thing". At election time they are friend to all. Later them and many of those working under them think "screw you".
