Egypt and Ethiopia spar over the Nile | Al Jazeera America

this would be a bloody (and economically devastating) mess if they take this fight past words. If it does happen, I'd have to say Ethiopia is going to win. Egypt is in no position to fight a war against battle hardened Ethiopia and Ethiopia controls the water supply being at the headwaters.

part of me, probably the bad part, would like the evil muslims to fight each other into extinction. of course that would mean a lot of collateral damage to the "good" muslims.

I personally think the religious bent on the war in the middle east is a red herring. How little things have changed when war is still being waged by finding religious zealots and telling them they are fighting Satan.

Religion is always a red herring. The crusades were about controlling the Silk Road and bored Euros wanting to kill something.

As feudal Europe emerged from the Dark Ages they found themselves with a bunch of battle hardened, bloodthirsty, quasi-barbarian knights on the 1 hand and an all powerful Church that condemned violence on the other. The result was utter anarchy kept barely in check with tournaments and the odd border war. As the Italian merchant republics clamored for more access to trade and rumors of violence in the Mideast started to spread across Europe, the pope realized he could make the Italians happy and give bored knights someone other than each other and hapless peasants to kill and ordered the invasion of the Levant. You have a poor grasp of history.

I have a poor grasp on history because you use blunt and crude language. Yeah right.
