Iran clamps down on news organizations

EDITOR'S NOTE: Iranian authorities have barred journalists for international news organizations from reporting on the streets and ordered them to stay in their offices. This report is based on the accounts of witnesses reached in Iran and official statements carried on Iranian media.

Almost predictable that this would have happened after the election fiasco in Iran. Clamping down on the media as well as people who opposed the Iranian government candidates.

It is the only way that an oppressive regime can survive- by blocking information. I think in Iran though, they are past the tipping point and we will most likely see revolution no matter what Ahmadinejad and his followers do now.

I get that feeling too. I read some blogs by Iranians from Iran. Looks as though they are ready to take on the Government.

Certainly does- I have been following some Iranians on Twitter and they are really passionate and willing to do a lot to bring about the change they crave.

Do you think this could spill over to the United States? Iranians setting the tone to fight for what they believe in? The rightists are already on the rampage, but I'm thinking about the sixties and the student unrests that took place at that time, unrest everywhere indicating that fundamental change of Government was necessary?
