Sadam Hussein's cousin "Chemical Ali", has just received another death sentence. He seems to be collecting these. Can't believe how much he looks like Sadam though. Wow! Looks as though the people of Iraq are stretching all these death sentences out. A civilized version of stone throwing?

Just a good thing he is over there. Here he might be set free for not having his rights read when he was arrested.;)

:giggle: You REALLY have a wonderful gift of the gab Dodge. Well said! And once that has happened possibly they would not have been able to apprehend him ever for all the other crimes that he got multiple death sentences for in Iraq. Still can't get over how much he looks like Sadam, almost a better looking version as well, sort of smoother and better looked after

Sadam had more stress going on in his life. It is good that he is dead. But I remember him saying he was the only man that could control his country. I don't think that country will be run by another "strong man" ruler for a while.

Was he the only one who said it? As far as I can remember the whole West advocated that belief while they had been supporting Saddam against Iran before the Gulf War and were helping him build his arsenal of nasty weapons (I can imagine they are still wondering what had happened to those). Amazing how short the memory of politicians can be, especially when they are switching alliances? :D

No I have repeated it several times myself since I saw him say it to Dan Rather.:p In my opinion what we had not destroyed was moved across the border before the heat got too hot. Bush was wrong about what he had, and the people who said he had nothing were wrong too. We know he had some stuff because we gave it to him.

It was generally believed that Saddam was the best person to be in charge. He wasn't reliable, but he did respond to US interests in their favour. In 2003, the intention had been to create "Saddamism without Saddam". To create a client state in the most energy rich region in the world - another one, that is.

You mean along the lines of better the enemy we know than the one we don't know?

Back to the arsenal of nasty weapons and comment by Dodge, the BIG countries who helped build that arsenal were ENGLAND, FRANCE, and the United States. Most of it secret, and yes, they would have known exactly what was supposed to have been in Iraq. One of the UN Inspectors however said at the time that there is a limited life on chemicals, and that since the boycott against Iraq, after the Gulf War, Saddam would not have had access to equipment and expertise to keep his nasty weapons up to date. I find Dodge's point of view however very interesting, possibly there could have been special deals in exporting it to some of the neighbouring states, or who knows, even storing the them in the neighbouring countries "temporarily"! Would be very interesting if the US army should depart from Iraq, if those should make their appearance again? Wonder whether Chemical Ali has passed all of that info to his sons and nephews? Interesting times ahead!
