America's huge SURPLUS POPULATION.

Americans not working isn't because we're lazy, the typical worker works just as much as any non-sweatshop worker in the 3rd World (it's the Euros and northern South Americans that sit around). No, Americans not working is because we've replaced most of our jobs with robots. Once android tech advances sufficiently, even the service sector will start to automate. Human labor is obsolete.

In many cases, Jobs and employment usually wind up in the hands of those willing to work for the least amount of money and least benefits. This is of course the large cheap, foreign labor that is causing a great deal of US unemployment.

As for the surplus population, the US passed its optimum population (relative to resource base) in 1860, when the population was 30 million. Theoretically, after that, there should have been no immigration, except for rare cases of needed skills, and immigrants bringing large amounts of capital, to open businesses and create jobs, FOR AMERICANS.

This has not been my experience. Most employers don't want the best of the best and very few jobs require excellence. What employers really want is "good enough to get the job done at the least expense". They also look for people who aren't likely to leave. Say you have two guys in line for a job: One is a single guy with nothing keeping him in the area and the other one is a married guy with four kids in school in that area and a mountain of mortgage debt. Guess who gets the job. The married guy gets it because he's far less likely to just pick up and leave or cause trouble because he really needs the job. Same concept applies to those here on B-1B visas.

Are you kidding me? Have you ever been to Germany? Do you even know any Germans? Work ethic? You owe me a new keyboard, I just spit coffee all over it. I've found them to be very lazy and demanding. They get very upset if they're asked to do anything remotely resembling what is considered normal labor or working hours in the U.S. and that's assuming they even bothered to enter the workforce...Nesthockers are very common in Germany, dudes still living at home and going to school part-time until they're 35. That's the nation you're describing as having a work ethic.

Is this because the workforce is superior or is it because they are so lazy and entitled that the manufacturers can't force them to work the hours necessary to meet demand? There is a reason German auto suppliers set up much of their manufacturing operations in the United States; its because if they kept the manufacturing in Germany they would never be able to meet their production targets.
