Am I correct in assuming you're a hard-line Marxist (I didn't see you state your position yet, maybe i missed it.)? And that's an honest question, not an attack.

I am not telling you to take up charity - it is pure crap, meant to make the rich feel better but, pretty well by definition ('the poor ye have always with you') useless, but to stop pretending there is anything remotely moral about behaving like pigs at a trough. No-one can begin thinking on the basis of moralistic illusions, that's all.

Charity and welfare are all bread and circus tools. Throw them the bread crumbs and say it's better then nothing and the poor will take it gladly never considering that they might deserve more. Keeps the haves in power and the have-nots from revolution.
