I went on a 3 year drinking spree in my early 20s. I had 3 non drinking days in that 3 years. I did not drink on Mother's Day any of those three years. My mother seemed very happy to see me sober on those days. My wife has kept me off the bourbon for several years. So I mostly drink beer. I live right in the middle of Kentucky Distilleries and really like that Wild Turkey 101.;)

The paranoia is not very severe. I've heard that it's maybe 5% and usually involves them curling up on the floor for a few minutes until the monsters go away.

Compare that to the number of alcoholics who have lower inhibitions that lead them to violence.

Also, most people just don't smoke weed again if they are getting the paranoia. I don't believe the brain develops a physical addiction to THC, so one can just quit. The addiction is no worse than any other "addiction" (like chocolate or video games).

Most people who are slightly paranoid don't realise it.

as far as being addicted to THC i agree there's no physical addiction. but there is a dependency. and that in its self can be as harmful as addiction and just as devastating.

Out of curiosity, how many stoners have you spoken to? I knew a lot of casual users back in high school. They were well aware of their bouts of paranoia.

I know this because I was always curious about why Aqua Teen Hunger Force was called a stoner show. I always figured that it would freak a stoner out (Dude...the ball of meat is talking to me :)). The guy I asked said that "it got intense" when they saw the opening to the movie (a big crazy rock video spoof). He remembered freaking out about it (seeing a nacho chip screaming death metal would be a little intense)

I don't know anyone who really freaked out either. Regardless, it wouldn't be any worse than some guy getting really violent after drinking. I've personally seen that.

Different drug, but I did see a 6ft. 4inch 320 pound man freak out with LSD. He was in a hospital at the time. He was the scariest of all the drunks, dopers and just plain ill people I ever run up on.

I can imagine, LSD can be a very dangerous drug and the trips are much more intense.

I also know a lot of heavy marijuana users... like I mean multiple times a day, every day for the last 2-4 years. They haven't really said the paranoia is that bad at all... they all agree they are pretty much useless though because of too much weed. They just have no drives, goals or anything. It's sad really... most of them were my best friends back in high school.

It is very sad to see someone with their whole life in front of them just toke it away.:(

It really is... a couple of them I could of foreseen it. They never really tried at anything even before the weed and just didn't have motivation for anything really.

A very good friend of mine though could have done anything he wanted. 90s in calculus, biology etc. and then he just one day dropped out of school with about 2 months left before graduation and started smoking weed. He gave it up and decided that he'd become a millionaire poker player, and was doing pretty good for a few months... made a couple grand anyway. Then last week he started smoking again  and now has given up that and given up his "raw vegan" status.

I just don't understand :(

There are so many people, both left and right, who want to control what other people do in their personal lives. Mindless "buttinskis" are a curse to the human race.

Since I am one of the few people born in the United States who dislikes its totalitarian society, I want to dictate to other people as little as possible, especially in areas that involve only themselves.

I find abortion aesthetically displeasing, and I think that, in general, intelligent responsible people can avoid the need for it with modern contraceptive techniques. However, I would never interfere with a woman's right to have an abortion.

I am definitely not a Mormon, but I do not indulge in black tea, coffee or coka-cola. Again, I would not interfere with someone who used recreational drugs --- though I would encourage people not to use the most harmful of drugs --- tobacco and liquor.

I find pot smoke as disagreeable as I find tobacco smoke, but I might use cannabis products for medical reasons if I needed them. Since I live in a more enlightened spot than most of the United States, such products are readily available to those who need them.

I think careful, responsible use of LSD and similar products have an important place in self-discovery and treating mental trauma.

I favor extensive education in the dangers of excessive use of drugs --- including those that Big Pharma and the Medical Mafia are constantly pushing on their unsuspecting victims.

To my mind, the greatest benefit in legalizing recreational drugs is in doing it in such a way as to bankrupt the Mafia, the CIA, and other criminal elements which at present are wreaking havoc everywhere and corrupting all social institutions.

An important reason why I would not use illegal drugs is that I do not wish in any way to support the criminal elements of the Deep State who profit so much from their illegality, supported so ably by their political stooges who so hypocritically keep the drugs illegal.
