Dems almost trick TP into passing joke bill.

The TP killed the bill after the Dems withdrew their opposition. It was a sure thing and they had to fight to out shout each other as they tried to change their votes before voting was closed. The TP thinks it was a joke, the Dems did nothing but force them to admit it by not killing it for them. Believe it or not but the Republican/Tea Party could care less about what anyone who has less then $500K in the bank thinks. Shocking, I know.

No, you called the GOP spending bills jokes... suggesting that they were cutting too much spending. That's silliness.

David you cannot make claims like, "Believe it or not but the Republican/Tea Party could care less about what anyone who has less then $500K in the bank thinks." and be taken seriously. You cannot know your claim to be true and it can be very easily deminstrated as quite false. Its meaningless crap that offers nothing of value to the discussion.

You may want to take a look at their voting record, helping the poor and downtrodden isn't exactly at the top of their list of priorities... At least not unless it's a list of things they want to kill.

you may want to get out of that tiny little liberals only chamber and talk to a Republican or a TP Patriot.

I've spoken to many TPers, they all universally sound like idiots who don't know shit about what they're talking about or traitors who don't care how many laws the violate so long as they get their corporatist wet-dream paradise.

The TP of all groups opposed the bill as soon as the Dems withdrew their opposition. If they wanted it to pass, why did they change their votes from 'yes' to 'no'? Stop denying reality, they wanted to use the bills death to bash the Dems for not caring about the deficit and freaked when the Dems decided to let it pass.

and so you continue to insist that you not be taken seriously

from many to all universally is a leap that only a fool would eagerly jump at

David - you have to stop sounding like a doofus and rely on substance and facts rather than name calling. All you've done is call the TPers big-bad-doo-doo-heads. That has a very limited appeal.

we are on about different points

you and the democrats are interested in the silliness of scoring "burn" points... this is good strategy to appeal to the 16-19 year old crowd. I, on the other hand, pay taxes.

I'm interested in fixing the train wreck our economy is facing if we don't fix the budget

The Repub strategy for the past year has been to claim Obama can't be president and propose joke spending bills so that hen they got shot down they could claim that the Dems didn't care while pointing to their yes votes to show they did.

The Dems decided to not play along with the spending game and force the Repubs to show their true colors. That's not scoring 'burn points', that's calling the bluff and making the Repubs look like idiots.

And what do the Dems look like? Party of "we can spend our way out of debt" don't look all that smart. And that "big tent" thing the democrats claim is just horse manure. Democrats think anyone who disagrees with them is uninformed, stupid, or evil. How awful that anyone would think different than the all knowing democrats. Well the one playing president has not proven half as smart as advertised. Just a big ego in a suit.

Actually the Dem position is invest and raise taxes to pay for it while the Repubs like to spend and not tax leading to massive deficits that they blame on Dems.

Spend is just the Repub's code word for 'any funding that I don't like'. ;)
What ever they call it I will never vote for any Democrat for any national office again. I have only voted for one democrat in the last 6 years. And that was our sheriff. I was even invited to a cookout with all the Kentucky democrats last year including the governor. Of course I did not attend since the sheriff that invited me was the only one I would ever want to be seen with.

And I like a good BBQ.:D

Can't be President?

Calling a bluff to make another look like a fool is quite specifically scoring burn points

I'm not terribly pleased w/the GOP but the Dems are loony

400% larger deficits than the GOP

As the Repubs shoot down every tax increase the Dems propose while cutting spending from nonexistent sources (like vacant and thus non-issue czar positions), vital sources like public education, police and fire departments, etc while massively increasing military spending all while holding the House and having a healthy presence in the Senate. Saying the Dems have outspent the Repubs as if the Repubs are non-players is blatantly intellectuality dishonest.

Plenty of dishonesty to go around to all sides. There are no "heroes" in this mess. It is now mostly BS talk coming from everyone concerned. Let's face it. When interest goes up to a normal rate we are going down the tube. Real investors will not settle for 1 or 2 % like the world banks have been doing. So much for everyone's "talking points". Can't any of them see the real world will deal with this mess? And it will not be pretty, loving, or sweet. It will be brutal and not a damn thing can stop reality from dealing with it.

Again, I'm fairly unhappy with the lack of progress from the GOP but the first rule in getting out of a hole is to stop digging.

Police and Fire Departments are state and locally funded... same with most education.

Haven't seen these massive defense increases..

I said the Dems ran up deficits 400% greater than GW's. By any frame of reference the increase is simply astounding - look at total dollars, rate of GDP etc etc there is no reasonable comparison since WWII afaik. The Dems controlled both houses and the Oval office.... exactly how were they players in that debacle?

There is nothing intellectually dishonest about that. So, either demonstrate where I have lied or retract with an apology.

Deficit as rate of GDP..... the Democrat years

2009 10.01
2010 8.82
2011 10.91

highest under Bush? 3.48 in 2004

The Repubs controlled the House for the past year and Had a major say in spending in the 1st 1/2 of '08 (fiscal years don't match up with calender years). and the Repubs had veto power via filibustering for all but a few days during total Dem 'control'. So yes, pretending like the Repubs have nothing to do with spending is intellectually dishonest.
