Yuck! That sounds pretty awful. How can people be both free and be regulated at the same time? Cooperatives and public services always comes with millions of rules and regulations.

No they don't. Look, they are controlled directly by the workers/constituents themselves. If they don't like it, they can get rid of it. It's entirely their choice. It gives the people power.

Well by the same token, if we do not like our Government, we can get rid of them? What difference would there be, just different labels but the "passive" people will still be the same.

Well then democracy every four years! In the interim we have the media to keep the guys under constant surveillance. :)

We need a truly pluralist society, a free independent (which it isn't) media, and democratic elections every year. We need to start thinking in terms of people, not profit.

This has to be like living in a dream world where everyone is good with good intentions. I can't see it happening, can you?

We would have new elections each year, but then the politicians would have to spend half of their term campaigning. We already see this with a number of representatives.

It would also be impossible to have a truly independent media. Someone's got to write it, and people are naturally biased, usually in ways that they may not realize.

There was so much campaigning last year that I was sick of all of them. There needs to be a limit on how much time and money they can waste.

You're right Dodge. It's overdone, just like the Miss USA contests. The girls who participate prepare years in advance, and all of it is almost cut-throat in competition. Sometimes really good candidates are lost as a consequence as all if it resembles a circus. As you say, they should give the whole process cut-off's, using so much campaign money, not advertising allowed, shorten the duration of campaigning etc. etc.

If you look back, i gave them a two-week period.

Also, the shortened term will encourage them to bring in reforms that the people like more rapidly.

I must ask, however, why do you care how much money they waste? It's their own. Or is it different in America?

Oh it is different for sure. If they qualify they get government money. And you know where the government gets it.

From your wallets, gotcha.

I don't usually say this, but in that respect, you should be more like Germany.
