Well, I wanna know how many of you here believe in god? I would say I kind of do. I think we all need something to believe in these days. I can say I believe in good, but I still don't go to church. I think the last time I went to church is when I was 6 years old.

I am similar to you... I believe that there is someone up there, but I don't believe in the typical image of "God"
It is hard sometimes to imagine how all the horrible things happen when there is a God.
I am not trying to offend anyone's faith. If you are a devout believer in God, I have nothing against you. I was merely sharing my opinion.

Yes, I believe in God. I'm a Christian, so I believe in the one and only God (Please, people with another religion don't take any offense to that, I'm only standing up for my own religion). I will not get into a huge debate here, but try going to church once a week, and if you manage to find a good pastor, you'll find the true meaning of life! Yes, I cmopletely agree with Rick.. how can this possibly have become an "accident"? The big bang shit is bs if you ask me.. all the theories about how monkies created the first humans.. the hell? I know how evolution works, don't tell me that suddenly there was a mistake and a monkey suddenly gave birth to a human being without tails.. and there must've been a female too! How can that "accident" happen twice? And what's the possiblity that those two mistakenly created humans had sex and had more babies? Very little. I'm afraid that if I get too deep into this, then this might turn into a flame thread, so let's just end it there.

I'm a Christian and I don't want to preach or anything but I find it hard to believe people can just say all this came about by accident.

I just have to look at creation how even identical twins have different finger prints how complex the brain is and how complex a strand of DNA is it all seems way to complex just to happen by accident it's not logical.

Also scientists and people who support the EVOLUTION theory well this is just pure rubbish as anyone who bother to research Darwin's life will know that Darwin repented on his death bed confessed to leading a lie and admitted his theory was rubbish and gave his life to Christ don't believe me research his death and final days this isn't a Christian theory either it is historically recorded but they wont teach you that in schools!!!

No offense, but your getting preachy!
I have no problem with religious people practicing and believing in WHATEVER they want. However, I do have a problem with people trying to force their religions and their opinions on other people. Everyone is different, and they have the right to choose whatever they want to believe.

I'm not preaching at all I stated I was a CHRISTIAN however explaining why I believe the world was not by accident I never once personally mentioned Jesus or God I did mention Darwin gave his life to Christ but that's a historical FACT.

On this forum we have a right to express our opinion and my opinion was the world did not come about by accident others may be it did so if you believe that are you not preaching to me by expressing your opinion on here?

Please define the word preaching I think we all preach but I am a little offended that you think I am forcing a religion on someone else, just because I said I was a Christian doesn't mean the world had to come about in a Christian prospective that post can be relevant to Muslim Buddhist Hindu etc.

Also I would strongly suggest if you are easily offended by "preaching" that you might want to re-consider looking in the RELIGION forums :)

No offence sorry if I came across blunt but I didn't know how to put it without getting my point across.

You also had the right to choose to read his post or not. He stated clearly in the first sentence of his post that he will try not to get too "preachy" yet you come in and say that he's getting too preachy? Well I'm sorry if you're not Christian, but you don't have to disregard what he said... I can understand, however, how he sounded a bit like he's trying to convert people, but isn't that what our job as a Christian is to do?

I respect your opinions, and I was in no way trying to offend you or your religion.
However, I believe that religion can blind you very easily.
The fact that you don't believe in evolution scares me. Saying that a widely accepted scientific theory is "complete rubbish" is just as bad as me saying that God may or may not exist.
I can understand your religion, but I think you just believe what your parents taught you and you probably have closed your mind to other peoples opinions.

I am not going to argue anymore as I know it will be a loosing battle. I will however encourage you to open your mind to all peoples opinions, and try to think for yourself, not for your religion.

lol I think this is a very simple case of agreeing to disagree really isn't it?

As we could go on arguing forever.

But thanks for your respect to just leave things there is no need though everyone is entitled to there opinion.

I don't know if this was directed at me or Rick, but I understand how you think I'm close-minded and ignore everyone else's opinions. However everything you just said does prove that you do not believe in God, and you wrote what you wrote because you have a different opinion than me. I wrote what I wrote because I had a different opinion than you, there's nothing wrong with that. However assuming that I'm only believing in my religion because of what my parents taught me I think is wrong. I don't think this is arguing though, just simply stating our own opinions and getting some feedback on our freedom of speech.

I fully realize the irony of my previous statements ;)
I would just like to state that I do believe in God in some form. I don't really know what my beliefs are exactly, I just know that there is something up there pulling the strings.

I believe in God, and in an afterlife. As for the heaven and hell concept, it makes sense to me.

I also understand why some people don't believe in a divine being or in an afterlife, but I think that their doubts are just superficial. Deep inside of them, they wonder if they're really right or not as I've often seen some people turn to spirituality in their time of need despite the fact that they usually avoided it in normal circumstances.

I do! I do! I do!

To each his own!

However, I do see why some people do not. While some just believe in a Supreme being but do not believe in any religion. You can't force yourself to have faith in the unseen unless you experience it. We call this guidance from Him. So, unless He guides you to the right path, you may do as you please.

I also come across some forums, like these, that have some really good arguments AGAINST the philosophy of a "religion", and I'm not even sure what to say to prove them wrong, that's how hard having a religion is. You'll always get people trying to throw you off the wrong path, but as a Christian I've learned to ignore those people and keep going the way I've been going for my whole entire life.

Too bad you're believing in the fake god :( lol j/k (no but seriously..) if I get into much more of this, I would probably sound like some Christian ass trying to convert a Muslim into my own religion, and that would make all Christians look bad, so I guess I don't really have anything to say to you.

However the thread starter should have specified which God we believe in, because there's many other types of God (unless you meant God as in just a supreme being that floats in the sky)

I believe there is supreme power beyond humans. I’m a follower of Hinduism, which is one of the ancient religions of the world. We believe in honoring everything created by god for example Sun which gives us light, and all five elements without which human life is not possible like earth, water, fire, air, sky. I think more or less every religion teaches same as to honor and respect what god has given us.

Wow...I'm lonely now. I'm an atheist. That's about it. I used to believe in a God but simply put I just can't believe that there is a God. If I had to pick a religion, I would probably go Wiccan anyway. All major religions are basically the same, so you might as well belong to one that occasionally has moderately attractive women dance naked in the woods :).

That's about it though. I doubt that the thread creator intended for this to be a thread on evolution or religion as a whole, so I won't derail it though. I will just say that I'm a little worried that you really don't believe in evolution. It's established scientific fact. Evolution just says how humans got here anyway, not how it all started. There's still wiggle room in creation since we don't have a solid scientific theory on that (sorta hard to go back 6 billion years...although the latest telescopes are giving more and more information about what other planets were like 2 billion years ago, so we are getting closer).
