Cuba declares 9 days of mourning while South Africans remember his vital support in ending apartheid.

The illegal Cubans are really pissy on FB right now. They don't like getting called out, usually after a pro-Trump post, what with his 'Wall' and all.

David: are you happy or sad now?

He also praised Nelson Mandela who was a terrorist that killed women and children in Johannesburg. Among other bombings.

Apparently slaying hundreds of children is worth it to end apartheid.

Yep, holding the nation back to the point that he did, definitely made it worse.

Most Cuban people have to survive on 20 dollars a month while the Castros live in absolute luxury.

You really think things were better for the typical Cuban before? Lets remember that Cuba was a dictatorship BEFORE Fidel (who unlike his predecessor was actually elected mind you) ever came along. Modern Cuba is almost totally litrate, attracts people from around the world for it's healthcare, has a higher life expectancy than the US, is richer than it was before and is as much a tourism industry was it did before the Revolution.

He was a tyrant but only an idiot would argue that Cuba is worse off now.

because they keep their people dirt poor.

So Castro had shit to do with that.

He was a tyrant but only an idiot would argue that Cuba is worse off now.
Only an idiot would argue that it's better, or a regressive that thinks socialism is the best.

EVERYONE is a totalitarian in their dreams, democracy is a compromise between 7B people who can't call the shots and so deny everyone else the chance.

So you're one if those?

And so are you. Human nature is a paradoxical thing, simultaneously needing a leader figure while wanting to be the leader. This is why most human societies have been top down affairs.

In the age of the entirety of human knowledge being common knowledge, it's no longer tenable to keep people ignorant and passive. Thus the proliferations of democratic societies that give everyone greater authority while checking the ambitions of rivals.

It's a cynical view of the world but it's no less true.

And exactly why self centered dictators should not be mooned over.

They represent the worst of human desire.

America is ruled by 3 families (Kennedy, Bush, Clinton). A democracy doesn't prevent anything, it simply forces dynasties and prevents lifelong rulers. I mean our 'democracy' is approaching Orwellian levels of state security, you can't say with a straight face that it actually prevents the human tendency for authoritarianism. At best democracy mildly dilutes the potency of human nature by allowing small voices to muck up the system.
