France to commit 80 more troops to NATO forces in Afghanistan, far below expectations

They're still Europeans. :D

I very much enjoyed my time in France. The land is beautiful, the people were lovely and the food was delicious. The coffee's quite something, too, if you take it traditionally.

...Why?

Do I really need to go into it? Put simply, I'm American. The French would say the same about us as well.

We're the most hatful and murderous of enemies to never get around to having a war in the history of humanity, I think. :giggle:

We should of let the Germans keep them after the war.
Have a feeling some Germans would have loved it. They get to keep all the art treasures as the Germans have a great appreciation for art and beauty. On the other hand, the French are very volatile and difficult to handle. Probably better to keep all the French in one country and let them manage their own chaos.

And they make some damn good beer too! I just wish I could afford it. I could just see me relaxing around the ol beer garden. Now that would be a vacation worth taking.:)

Right. A friend of mine visited in October last year, and he said it was great fun. Especially in the southern parts of Germany. The Norther parts of Germany seem to be a little more uptight.

Probably you're in the wrong country. If you could live in England, it may be easier to have little money, but still to have your beer. To start off with, there is a pub at almost every corner, it is very accessible. People also seem to be looked after by the Government, probably always a little that can be used for pub money. One can probably look at it as an essential investment in mental health.

This has to be the difference between the US, UK and France. Beer versus wine. Maybe beer has a more calming effect on people than wine, which could be the reason for the French disposition of getting uptight sooner than Brits can get. Also beer can be a more enlightening experience, people come up with much better inspirations and ideas. So that is probably how they get to send more troops? Has to be the beer? :giggle:

No problem getting to the beer for me. I am within a mile of two stores that sell beer. And about a mile and a half of a full sit down and drink bar. When I bought my house over 20 years ago it was in the country. Then town moved in on me.

Glad, as I can imagine that has to be a necessity, rather than a luxury. :)

It feels like a necessity, but it is a luxury for old poor sick guys. I always tell my wife I can't mow the yard without beer. But the yard is covered in snow now.:(
