Likewise, except I am not quite anarchist- I still believe in a state, but one that is very minimal (think Mill's harm principle.) Also, I am not an atheist (not huge on organized religion either- more of a believer in god, as opposed to particular figures.) Either way, we will probably still be similar on most issues (especially economic) compared to some of our other daily members :)

Hi, i'm a real Anarchist. :p

I'm also an atheist, and agree that a master in heaven is the best excuse for a master on Earth. Though i do know of Christians that are anarchists for the very reason they have a God.

Anyway, you're very welcome and I hope we have interesting, informative and constructive discussions/debates in the future.

What do you mean by "real Anarchist" (I'm looking at your avatar while typing this)
I am not sure what he meant by that, but Dirk is more of a socialist-anarchist (left-libertarianism) as opposed to an anarcho-capitalist (which is obviously more of a right libertarian school of thought.)

Isn't limited government and oxymoron?

I had the anarchist and socialist signs intertwined then, didn't i? :p

What do i mean? Well, Anarchism stems from European libertarianism - which itself has socialist roots. Self styled "anarcho-capitalists" arise from American Libertarianism, itself a produt of neoliberalism. This is an entirely different root. Anarchism is, by nature, anti-capitalist, since it advocates the overthrow of the bourgeois masters.

Anarchism is workers' solidarity, not private tyrannies.

Lol, that is your opinion- there is more than one school of thought within anarchism. Also, the idea of "bourgeois masters" is a very debatable one.

Not really. There are different emphases. The real differences are between pacifist anarchists and class war anarchists, intellectualists and workerists. But Anarchism is traditionally anti-capitalist.

Also, as i said in my previous post, they are from entirely different roots. You could argue that there are different schools of socialist thought, but the two concepts of anarchism and anarcho-capitalism developed quite seperately.

Anarchism in the US, i should mention, was brought about by Eurasian immigrants.

I see that my thread has given you guys something to discuss great!

Perhaps anarchist isn't the best word to have used, I'll stick to something like "free marketer"

To comment on myp's post about "bourgeois master" I agree you aren't forced to work for anyone, perhaps if don't do what your job requires you will be fired and will have to find another way to feed your family, but aren't you told this before you start your job? you aren't ever forced to stay or to even work there.

If you become a "problem" - i.e. try to get decent working conditions, enough holidays and a fair pay - and someone else will come and work for peanuts... guess what comes next.

As for being forced to stay or work there, no, not literally. But there's often no choice but to. Also, a lot of work is temporary work. Often part-time. A fluid/flexible workforce is brilliant for the bosses, job insecurity is devastating for working people.

How do you know a forum is filled with intelligent, fair-minded and politically aware people? When even the spam threads are intelligent debates. :p
