He has not kept most of his campaign promises. He did get healthcare through, but that was with the old Congress. Either way, a "do nothing" Congress has historically been better for the US than a "do something" Congress, in my opinion.
The thing that you might say he has done successfully in regards to this discussion (of why the Dems shouldn't have primaries) is that he has retained a certain level of electability (unfortunately).
