How well do you think the swine flu crisis has been handled?

Seems to me that the most serious cases are from Mexico and that the further it gets from Mexico, depending on the state of immunity of the individual, the less lethal it is. It's only really people with heart conditions or impaired immunities that are at serious risk. The person I mentioned recovered within a week and was not more sick than a good dose of common flu. Bad parts however are that he was in 10 days quarantine, and there is also a stigma now. He is due back at work on Thursday and people were hoping he could stay away longer and since this is the only case reported so far in this country, making a really big deal out of it, I feel very sorry for him. Common sense says the incubation period is long over but people rarely go for common sense when there is something they can panic over.

As of now, there are less than 10 people who are being cured and quarantined. Most of them get infected by a Vietnamese mother & child who came to a marriage ceremony. Some others are from other countries. The Dept. of Health says that there's no community outbreak and not to panic.

Honestly, if you tell people not to panic, they tend to panic.

True. I also feel sorry for those who got the flu, as they somehow get "tainted" by it. People want to stay away from them, even when they have been cured.
