Insane religious people

I had some more time to think about this.

I don't understand the point of having a fake church? Even in the satirical format, what does it accomplish? If this church has members..and employee's.. and the do 'mock' sessions of real churches- well how is that not a real church? I'm going to just go ahead and assume these people really are off their rocker because I don't care how much you don't like something you don't spend 20+ years of your life replicating it- well not just replicating it to change it or make it better- but replicating it in a mocking satirical way.

Okay my post probably makes no sense and that would be because I'm confused! What the hell. And I was literally sick about the way these people were talking about women & rape victims. What is the point to them to spend their time doing that?

I'm almost more offended about them being fake. If they sincerely believed that way it would be one thing- I wouldn't & couldn't understand that either but I know people get consumed by things (the bible, religion- whatever their vice is) and yet, these people just making satirical jokes about rape victims really pisses me off.

If they want to make a difference they should get off their damn asses and stop mocking people online and start HELPING those in need! It's not that hard, and obviously I think this founder has a bit of this in himself that he's ashamed to admit.

Isn't it so true that the loudest opponent to anything turns out to be the one doing it behind closed doors (ex: reverend against gay relationships having a male prostitute).

There too many people on both sides of religion for and against that are just obsessed. People who feel like it is their mission in life to make everyone believe. And others who feel it is their mission in life to "destroy" religion in anyway they can. In my opinion both sides need to take a break (have a beer or Coke) and chill the hell out.:D

Yes you're right about that! I wish people would just live and let live, but I guess life wouldn't be nearly as interesting if that were the case.

Man, first off, its been on the internet for maybe 4 years, the internet isent even 20 years old, secondly its satire, we have examples of this sort of thing back to the beginning of written history *LOL* there was a time the only way you could mock the church was satire, it still holds a lot of power, if you cant figure out what satire is about I just give me head a shake.

This website is obviously designed to spur conversation, to reflect to people what real churchs say and think, if a church says the bible needs to be taken literally then lets walk around with placards talking about how you should murder your wife if shes not a virgin on your wedding night!

They tricked me into making the post but after thinking about it I dont feel bothered by it, theres a very thin line between satire and the truth.

I dont think your really asking if this makes it a real church, that would be kind of silly, they are mocking stupid christianity, not advocating any belief in a higher power, the members themselves, I suspect, range from the clueless to people that may or may not believe in the supernatural and who enjoy the satire.

The whole point is to get people talking about what the church DOES ...

... it clearly says on the link that myp showed me that he started his church 20+ years ago.

I don't see the point in mocking people who have been raped, I don't like or agree with the objectification of women. That was my whole point.

It's okay, I can laugh at myself. I tend to let my initial reaction to the phrase.. my daughter won't marry her rapist... take away any sense of logic or concern for their message and just piss me off and direct my train of thought ;)

May be something to do with the survival of the species and the strong fighting to control the weak so that they can become even more stronger. Conflict has a way for creating progress, and too much peace can create a measure of stagnation and weaken the species.

Its beyond disgusting but these people believe the bible to the word, it provides their ethics and morals.

Agreed, but it's not just the Bible. The Qu'ran and the Torah could also be overinterpreted as well.

Well the Pokemon thing certainly could be real. I remember a few years back during the Pokemon hype, I saw a story on the news about some religious groups saying that playing Pokemon is satanic, etc.

Even if backmasking Gotta Catch 'em All! does have a message, I didn't think it was placed there on purpose.

If we are the beginning and the end does it really matter? If that is true I have wasted damn near 60 years living a life that I never wanted or cared about.

So you have no reason to live other then the idea of a payoff at the end?

I think theres lots to live for, we dont need religion for meaning.

So ur only ever a good person because u fear divine punishment? or have u been good to others because u dont want others to share the pain u have felt? because u have a built in conscience

The buddhists believe life is suffering and we should enjoy the good times we have, maybe on the surface, it feels hollow that this is all there is but its just silly to think there is more, just like its silly that geography dictates ur religion.

Life has meaning because we give it meaning and without a god we are free to make of it whatever we want, when I die my energy will return to the world around me and be absorbed and then become part of other humans and animals, life can be rewarding, inspiring and good even without a god!

Well, it is an incentive to try and change things (it doesn't really matter that you don't manage) instead of just going "it's okay, i'll go to a better place, it's okay, i'll go to a better place"...? I don't know, it's just a thought.

Good thinking. I sometimes think also that we miss the point by getting too involved about the past when we are thinking and living in the present and projecting our past on our future. The truth of the moment is much more honest than trying to figure it out from the past or planning it for the future in a list of commandments.

Which doesn't mean, of course, that we shouldn't learn from our mistakes.

Right, but sometimes in the fulness of time, those mistakes could well turn out not to be mistakes. Or just evaporate. Yes, we should learn, but maybe just not get bogged down by them. Today's truth can easily become tomorrow's falsehood.

I went to that site, those are some real religious nut jobs. Wow I think most of those people should be put on some kind of terrorist watch list. They are truly insane.
