Because the chemicals in fast food, unlike aspirin, actually are addictive.
OK, now that is really a good point that I have not thought about before. There have been proven studies indicating that these could also be responsible for chronic diseases such as Diabetes and obesity. I'm thinking of Twinkies, hamburgers, and crisps for starters.

The big issue in Latin America that they really need to take care of is the violence and killings of innocent people because of these psychopaths who only see dollar signs and drugs and no conscience whatsoever for human values and human life. And this has got very much to do with American immigration policies. The politicians need to finance the border protection all from Southern California to South Texas, to protect America against these horrible criminals. The United States is a very great market for drugs and human trafficking, this needs to be prevented on the borders, airports and harbours.

And how are we going to do that? We don't even have the forces to repel an invasion if someone were to try 1. guarding the borders is a no go even if the Feds wanted to.

I have to agree here. The most the US can do right now is apply sanctions if it can, but even that will probably only end up hurting the poor, not the rich and Government, which are basically the same. Agreed however that beefing up entrance to the US at airports, harbours and all the usual places where they succeed to smuggle the stuff in.

Cut in climate costs, cut in health care. Some areas where I do believe the government shouldn't be handing out even more money.

I'm surprised by these suggestions. I would have thought these two areas would have been crucial items in major need for rectifying, which will require major funding and human resources.

What we need to do is shift our military focus to just 2 countries, Afghanistan for obvious reason and Mexico which has descended into outright civil war. a civil war that is spilling over into america I might add.

We may need to get some "volunteers" to help with our Mexican border problems.

I believe the private sector can play a larger part in it, as a direct consequence of that the spending goes down and the service for the inhabitants becomes better.

The US needs to focus on the situations in Yemen, Iran, Somalia and in North Korea, so to just focus on two single countries is rather impossible. Too many people hate our values and the Western way of living for that to happen.

We really need to be in Mexico. I'm all for respecting a nations independence but I draw the line with Americans being beheaded in American streets, in American cities in broad daylight.

Agreed and yet do you see military action against MS-13? Do you see American forces on the Border? Do you see the same drone attacks you do in Afghanistan? I don't think the Feds even realize that we are at de facto war with Mexico and that the 'gov't' in Mexico City is an ineffectual sham.

Maybe they are "blinded" by the ever growing "Latino" vote.

Then get Latin America to help, Cuba for example has an impressive intervention record. Colombia would also be a good place to get help as stabilizing Mexico would cut off the flow of Colombian drugs to American markets.

I guess while so much money is to be made from the drug trade, with very little else on offer, and the demand for drugs will continue to be that high in the United States, and people from the Mexican Government easily "bought off", the drug trade will continue to boom.

That's the problem, as longer the power of money is in the picture the drug will continue to boom.
