Massachusetts Atorney General Martha Coakley has said that she believes a federal law which defines marriage as a union between a man and woman is unconstitutional and steps over its boundaries into states' rights. She also spoke about discriminative treatment between heterosexual marriages and homosexual ones, which are legal only in select states including Massachusetts.

Thoughts? Personally, I think Coakley is completely right here and even if one is against gay marriage, that does not change the fact that this law is unconstitutional.

I agree. Gay marriage should be allowed and actually it's the few "liberal" things I support.

I am generally for individual rights and hence, I too support gay marriage. I really think that anyone who cares for the Constitution, even if they oppose gay marriage, should support Coakley in this though because it is also a matter of states' rights.

Absolutely. This is something I hope everyone will eventually support. It would be a step in the right direction for America, so hopefully soon other pretty "conservative" states will follow in Massachusetts footsteps.

I heard a great phrase on the matter:

If you don't like gay marriage, don't get one and shut up. :p
