My whole point here is in questioning the reasoning and conclusions that you draw from said reasoning on this issue. I don't think your methods are rigorous enough to come to the conclusion you are coming to- that a ban would not work. I am not actually making a pro-ban argument because I don't know what it would mean although I would personally be okay with an assault rifle ban because I don't see why anyone would want them anyway and I don't think even for protection/concealed carry anyone law-abiding citizen actually carries those around (or that we would want them to).
Though the same goes for you also. We live in America. Ban the guns they will get those guns in other ways. This country is too big and people will see an opportunity and take it.
Regulate the purchase of guns. Make laws requiring gun owners to lock guns up securely.
Every Gun is an assault weapon. You take away the rifle's other guns can take its place. It is not all that had to reload a clip in a rifle whether it holds ten rounds or 20.
For a person well versed in guns it takes make a second or two. I never said I was basing my opinion on any evidence though you can't say banning them will solve the problem either.
Ok we ban them lets just say. Then the next incident happens with a rifle with 8 rounds in it when does it stop? Gun crimes in the US are not even close to the highest in the world.
The UK is far more violent without guns show me statistics saying banning them there made it any better. I am pretty sure they are out there as there are statistics saying to the contrary.
It is an argument neither can win nor can lose. I base my view on the Constitution and the 2nd amendment.
