While President Obama was giving his speech last night, he was interrupted by Rep Joe Wilson of South Carolina. Watch it here:

The clip also contains the exact text being referred to (health care for illegal citizens).

Bill aside, when do you think about the heckling? I don't think this has ever happened before. I disagree with Obama's plan but I think Wilson was way out of line by interrupting.

This guy broke a rule practically written out word-for-word.

Dercorum in the House and in Committees

Likewise, it has been held that a member could not:
  • call the Presiednt a "liar."
  • call the President a "hypocrite."

No reason for it. Just made the guy look like a real baby and hurt his cause even more. You have to show any speaker respect. It's common courtesy. He got his 15 minutes of fame though, so he got what he wanted.

Also issued an apology today for whatever that's worth.

But did Obama speak the truth? Would illegal immigrants be able to get healthcare insurance? How?

If I were an illegal immigrant, that would be about the last thing I would want to do, if I wanted to be undetected. So perhaps Obama knows that?

And so how can an illegal immigrant with no Social Security Number be able to apply for health insurance? I must be very dim and enenlightened, but would like to hear from someone in the know about this.

It's kind of mixed - according to Factcheck, no it won't technically. However, they also specifically mention that there is no enforcement specified as well as other parts of the bill that are too vaguely worded to be sure. Even tese guys have trouble combing through the mess of a bill.

I also want to mention that both sides of the aisle are raking in lots of cash from the controversy. Rep. Joe Wilson, who made the comment has raised over 700k and his Democratic opponent Rob Miller claims to have raised over a million!

I'm totally interested in this, do you have a link? On what basis did they raise it? :)

I should also point out that the campaign for the HR3200 was partially funded by an insurance company.
